This is a day of reflection on the truths of history. It is also a day to focus on what moves us forward. Implementing UNDRIP is one very important step in moving us to true reconciliation. But implementation is about actions, not merely words.
On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Fasken wishes to honour the survivors of residential schools, the children that were lost, their families and communities, and express our solidarity with Indigenous communities across Canada. Fasken recognizes the importance of acknowledging and addressing the tragic history, and ongoing impacts, of residential schools. Our firm remains committed to reconciliation by listening to our Indigenous communities, educating ourselves on their histories and lived realities, expanding our initiatives, and strengthening our partnerships with Indigenous communities. I am very curious, as are many, to see what changes the #state of #Indiana will be making to these #waivers. There are many people watching to see how the state is going to be addressing the severe lack of services. Hopefully there will be positive change. Not just cuts to try and fix the debacle with the aged and disabled waiver making it even harder to receive services for these vulnerable populations and their families. "The true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members." - Gandhi #fssa #FSW #CIH #AgedAndDisabled #severeautism #profoundautism #COLAS #caregivers #specialneeds #funding #developmentaldisability #respite #vocationalrehab #dayprograms #extensivesupportsneeds #ESN #bureauofdevelopmentaldisabilities #housing #grouphomes #transportation #paysupportstafflivablewage #residentialhousing #bdds #WeAreWatching Autism Society of Indiana Autism Society of America
The state is rewriting Indiana’s Family Supports Waiver and Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver. These waivers provide critical home and community based services. Here is the upcoming virtual meeting with The Arc of Indiana to learn more and share your thoughts. Thursday, August 8 at 6:00pm – Virtual August’s Ask The Arc will serve as a virtual town hall meeting. https://lnkd.in/ebb3PqeQ

The USDOT recently released an update on the distribution of funding and investments to disadvantaged communities in FY 2022 and FY 2023. The Justice40 initiative aims to deliver 40% of federal investments to disadvantaged communities, and the USDOT not only met but exceeded these goals. In 2023, 55% of Justice40 benefits, and in 2022, 61% flowed to disadvantaged communities. Did you know that NLC launched the Municipalities Reimagining Community Safety (MRCS) initiative in 2022? With reducing crime being a political priority for many Americans, the MRCS initiative was created to invest in local action to reduce and prevent violence while advancing new visions for safety in communities. One of these visions includes Group Violence Intervention (GVI), an impactful strategy to reimagine public safety. So what does GVI look like? 🙌🏼Yesterday, Anne Cuadros, YouthChampion4Disarmament from Latin America, addressed the Fourth Review Conference to share Y4D views on the importance of youth participation in armed violence prevention policies. Discover them: ✅ Establish regional and global youth-led research networks focused on the control of small arms. ✅ Remove barriers to the effective participation of youth from the Global South to international institutions. ✅ Establish dedicated and sustained funding for youth engagement and empowerment: increase in paid entry-level positions for youth, as well as support for youth-focused initiatives on the ground.
