In the past 8 months, I’ve gone from running a design agency, working with design, and product development, and being super hands-on with products and collections to also building a tech company - Portia. Met a former colleague some weeks ago and he said: "That sounds “dry”, working in tech!" And yes, in a way it is. There’s no more hands-on feeling fabrics, pinning and cutting away in fit sessions, designing, sitting in on collection review sessions. Now it’s about implementing smart software features, optimizing processes, efficiency, solving problems with new ways of thinking, looking at big outcomes problems, connecting the whole 360 view of a product journey, and coming up with circular solutions for new and old products. Applying big-thinking ideas to entire operations and not just one product. It’s been a journey and I LOVE the tech world because it moved FAST. When we discuss with a client and they have feedback- we can implement it immediately, in a day or 2. When brands get help with their operation and they can make smart decisions - the positive impact is massive, both from economic, operational and product points of view. With Portia we can make a bigger positive impact from a macro level, really helping brands into the circular future, from all aspects. Yes, we still run the Desinder design agency with some core clients, but I'm really enjoying my new learnings from now working in tech. #fashiontech #fashiosoftware #tech #womenintech #positiveimpact #circularfashion
I really love interlocking industries .. it is important to know that we cannot change the existing reality with old measures - this includes embracing tech for new intentions (otherwise it will be embraced for old ones) - just as much as it takes radical new systems and approaches to structuring. I wouldn't say it is dry at all ... Kudos & supporting all the way.
Worthy work for a better collective future. Don’t see anything ‘dry’ there Ana Kristiansson!
This is unbelievably exciting, congrats - excited to see what Portia does in the sustainable fashion space 👀 ❤️🔥
Ana Kristiansson your journey is an inspiration. Living proof that you can pivot verticals and industries. As long as you are adding value to your customers and to the world you can go places.
It sounds like a perfectly natural pivot that paves a new path for you. How exciting!
Very inspiring :) I’m also transitioning from fashion to tech so this is so encouraging to read 🙏
