Friday repeated rant: 'Explore synergies' should be deleted from the World's vocabulary. It's a horrible way to explore partnerships (happy simple word). It's a TERRIBLE way to ask for funding. As is 'collaboration', 'work together' and a 100 other euphamisms (that could work for partnerships). Yes, investing in a company is a long term partnership, however it's also a financial investment first. Simple hack format, shared once again. Hi, my name is X, (co-)founder of Y, We're solving X for Y // or // We're building X, that does Y for businesses, current clients include Z. We're at $MRR, growing at ~30% every quarter, with a pipeline of ABC (optional) We are raising ₹500 at ₹2500 // or // We are raising ~$1mn, looking to dilute 15-20%. This fundraise will give us 24 months of runway, taking us to $$MRR and breakeven. (Commitments if any // prior investors if any) I'd love to chat this week, please find attached a short brief on us Sign off..... #venturecapital #funding #fundraising #startups #founders

Navigating a successful capital raise is intense. And it could cost you millions in the future if your strategy isn’t on point. I had an awesome chat with fundraising coach, and founder of Thim Ventures, Shosh Shetty Shosh has spent nearly 15 years as an investor, operator, VC and leading an angel syndicate. He now works with founders on their fundraising strategy ⚙ Shosh talked about the importance of: 💡 Looking beyond just raising capital, and evaluating founder-investor fit 💡 Being time efficient with your raise 💡 Not rushing a deal through and compromising on terms 💡 Founders articulating the quantitative value of their proposition Links to the conversation in comments below - have a listen! #startups #fundraising #vc RevHire

Here’s the 1 thing that I wish more founders knew: When you receive VC funding, you are entering into a long-term relationship with your investor(s). In addition to providing them with investor updates and maintaining frequent communication, you will be receiving guidance and feedback. Just like VCs do their diligence on founders, you should do your diligence on VCs. If you couldn’t see yourself working with a potential investor, it’s better to not take their capital. #founders #startups #VC #fundraising #founderadvice Vivian Olodun, Dr. Tracy Timberlake, Seneca Williams "Entrepreneur Therapist", BEHIND THE LEAF INC, Flourish Media Co

Hi founders, Learn from the best and get to understand the investors mindset-Techstars course. Trick: You are the Alpha investor. Your mandate should be similar to the investors ie we want to make money quickly, the only difference you are on a crusade tied to the mast while they will expect an exit most likely through acquisition. Please remember VC are lenders of last resort so get bootstrapping and reach out to LEO, EI (Irish ecosystem) and make use of the financial supports available. Incentive: The longer you bootstrap the higher the valuation, for instance pre-seed 1-4 million (the closer you are from validation to product market fit the higher the valuation) While seed 4-10 million, now you have an MVP with revenue, a team with complete product experience and an actionable profitable business plan. I'm presently mentoring companies on Techstars and the Y combinator.

I've said it once and I'll say it again despite it being a tough pill to swallow, but the pitch deck template is dead. If you want to keep your investors tuned in to what you have to say, avoid the pitch deck template and start thinking in terms of the PITCH CYCLE The difference between the two: —> The pitch deck template tells you WHAT to put in your presentation and boxes your ideas to a fixed flow. —> The pitch cycle gives the guide on why you should include items in your delivery and how they can keep your pitch engaging and investors tuned in. This five minutes read will change the way you look at investor pitching. Link to the full article in the first comment. #fundraising #pitch #vc #startup #seed #pitchdeck
