Anita Roddick (1942 – 2007), the visionary founder of The Body Shop, revolutionized the business landscape with her belief that business could be a force for good. Her unwavering commitment to ethical business practices and sustainability paved the way for a new era of corporate responsibility.    “As someone who grew up through the 70s and 80s, I have always been inspired by Anita Roddick’s belief that business can be a “force for good” and that you can disrupt the status quo even if you are small. 💡 To make the Circular Economy truly transformative, gender perspectives must be integrated into CE research, policy, and governance. A recent study highlights a major oversight in Circular Economy (CE) practices; gender dynamics are largely ignored, meaning that despite women playing key roles in resource management and sustainability, they remain underrepresented in decision-making and high-value CE roles. 🚨 According to the study, the problem is that women are overrepresented in low-value, informal CE activities, while men dominate high-tech, well-paid CE sectors. Why businesses need a level playing field to develop the circular economy. At last year’s Festival, Jane Martin, CEO at City to Sea, explained how legislation can give companies confidence to invest in circular business models. Martin spoke on the Women in Circular Panel: A Circular Approach to the Bottom Line panel where she also told delegates that circular businesses need to be confident that when they come to market, people are ready and an excited to engage with them. #FOCE #circulareconomy #sustainability
