International Day Of Charity 2024: History  In 2012, the United Nations instituted the International Day of Charity as a way to recognize the global humanitarian efforts of organisations, choosing September 5th as the anniversary of Mother Teresa's passing. In addition to honouring her lifetime commitment to giving back, this day draws attention to the work done by numerous organisations throughout the world and invites the public to get involved by making donations, volunteering, and spreading awareness for important reasons. In 1950, Mother Teresa established the Missionaries of Charity. Members of this international community make vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and a unique commitment to serve "the poorest of the poor." International Day Of Charity 2024: Ways To Celebrate  Donate - If it's within your means, give money to those in need on this particular day. Engage - Contribute to local or global charitable organisations by organising your own fundraising events or by attending theirs. Raise Funds - To gather money, try straightforward fundraising concepts like bake sales, fun runs, or individual challenges like skydiving. Social Media - Use social media to help spread awareness about these important efforts.

"The decision to exclude a child from school is a life-changing one" In this powerful film, Jack, one of our educational advocates at CEN, shares his experience of supporting families during some of the toughest moments of their lives. Jack has seen first hand the challenges families face when trying to challenge a school exclusion. Only 5% of exclusions are ever contested, and even fewer are successfully overturned. For many, the process feels impossible without the right support. At CEN, we provide vital advice, guidance and advocacy for families whose children are at risk of exclusion. Our work changes lives, but we're facing a real funding crisis. Without urgent support, we may not be able to continue helping the families who need us most. Since 2018, Transervice Logistics employees have donated thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, and magazines to support Book Fairies, the largest nonprofit book donation organization in the Tri-State area. These materials are redistributed to under-resourced communities across Long Island and New York City's five boroughs, providing greater access to educational resources. In November 2024, Transervice broke its own donation record, marking the sixth consecutive year of partnership with Book Fairies. This ongoing effort helps ensure that children in underserved areas have equal opportunities to learn and grow.

There are times though, when a national resource is the only help, and these guys come through for strangers when no one else can. <3 and I want you to consider friends in your community first, but if you need to give on paper, these non-profits can use your funds for good.

At the Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint, we are working tirelessly to make that world a reality. Seclusion and restraint are harmful practices that affect numerous individuals and families, particularly those with children with disabilities, Black and brown children, and children with a trauma history.
