Did you know that "[f]ood insecurity among US families with older adults increased substantially over 2 decades from 1 in 8 families (12.5%) in 1999 to 2004 to 1 in 4 families (23.1%)" according to a study published this month? We serve more than than 100 seniors, and they tell us that eating a meal at our Community Table and getting some groceries from our Marketplace frees up funds to afford expenses like utility bills, car repairs, and gas. We know you want to help keep seniors from making impossible choices, and your support of Angels & Sparrows does just that. You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/gFhwUWnS You can find more on the study here: https://lnkd.in/eWtucP9p

Ending homelessness requires that we stop the inflow of people hitting the homeless response system. Programs like Problem Solving Access Points are critical to this work because not only is preventing homelessness the moral and ethical thing to do, it saves our community in housing costs later down the road. Today, on #BigDOG, consider donating to Sacramento Steps Forward: bit.ly/BDOGSSF
Preventing individuals and families from becoming homeless is core to our mission at Sacramento Steps Forward. We achieve this by utilizing the Coordinated Access System (211-8) to offer financial assistance for essential expenses like rent payments, car repairs, or bills that could otherwise lead to homelessness. In 2023, our problem-solving funds helped 805 households avoid homelessness. We also lead gathering and analyzing data on those who are, or are at risk of, becoming homeless. This work, done through the Point-In-Time Count and other initiatives, informs and advances prevention strategies. Your donation during this Big Day of Giving campaign enables us to continue providing immediate and impactful support to those in need: bit.ly/BDOGSSF

What’s missing at Bridging? BLANKETS, especially the bed sized for twin, full, and queen beds. As client appointment levels rise, so does our need to adequately stock the shelves for shopping. We need 300 bed sized blankets available every week, for a total of 15,000 donated each year! When we say “blanket”, we mean comforters, bed spreads, and blankets. They cover a mattress completely, provide warmth, and support a good night’s sleep! Gently used and new donations are accepted. How can you help during the September Blanket Blitz? Continue to donate from your own home. Tell others in your network and neighborhood that we are in desperate need. Coordinate a blanket collection at work, school, or in your faith community. See Joel or Danyelle about hosting a blanket drive. Reminder: Yes, we accept throw sized blankets! But, we have a healthy supply of those and isn’t our greatest need.

Today is a day of uncertainty and waiting. As Hillsborough County comes together to create safe havens during the storm, here are things that we know for certain. 1. We are a large county, both geographically and in population. We see how our community is welcoming those in evacuation zones and are grateful. 2. Some people will lose everything. The need after Milton will be even higher than it was after Helene, particularly since relief efforts for Helene were still in the beginning stages. 3. We will need help. One of the best ways you can support us is through monetary donations. While this may feel less personal, here's why it helps: ⭐ Funds allow us flexibility to meet specific needs as we encounter them. ⭐ Funds allow us to strategically plan to make the greatest impact. ⭐ Funds do not have to be physically stored when space is limited. If you would like to help, consider contributing at https://lnkd.in/dPSh_aSf Donations are used to fund essentials for kids.

The Essential Medicine Supply Chain is brittle and too delicate. It breaks more, and stays broken longer, than ever recorded. Some days, it feels like we are just surviving through the next dire drug shortage with duct tape and goodwill. Other days, I worry when the duct tape will run out. Most days, I wonder why it is so hard to ensure that everyone receives treatment. But today, on Thanksgiving, during the IV Fluid Shortage crisis, I want to share how grateful I am for YOU, our supply chain heroes. I’ve witnessed you work through vacations, take the extra call, sacrifice family dinner, overnight-ship the emergency supply, collaborate for the greater good, share with those in need, figure out how to do more with less, fight for one patient, fail, rebuild, recover, and try again. You are the supply chain that fills the hands that save our people. THANK YOU for the work you do for patients! THANK YOU for ensuring supply is IN and working together for ALL patients when it is not IN. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. You save lives. You are the Change! We are grateful! #ALLIN
Happy Thanksgiving from Angels for Change — may your day be filled with family, joy, and the warmth of giving.🧡 Today we are grateful for the incredible community of Change Makers who make our mission possible. Your commitment to the race to end drug shortages saves lives! As we enter the Thanksgiving and Holiday season, please consider supporting Angels for Change as you Giving Tuesday charity. https://lnkd.in/e-FGca9a #GratefulForYou #AngelsForChange #Thanksgiving #GivingTuesday #EndDrugShortagesNow #ALLIN

Why we are fundraising? Did you know that 1 in 4 women over the age of 16-years-old will experience domestic abuse at some point in their life? With at least 1 woman killed a fortnight by a current or ex-partner, it's hiding in plain sight. We all have the power to help make change. This is why we are taking on the Women's Aid Step Forward for Survivors Challenge to raise vital funds for survivors and help break the stigma of domestic abuse. We have made the commitment to move 60 miles throughout the month, which is an equivalent of 2 miles a day. The life-saving specialist support services offered at Women's Aid can be the difference between women and children staying or finding safety. How can your donation make a difference? £10 could fund a life-changing conversation between a professional Women's Aid support worker and a survivor of domestic abuse. Women's Aid wants to be there for every woman and child who needs them. I want to help end domestic abuse for good. With your support and donations, we can make it happen. Please donate on the below link: https://lnkd.in/ebpfchEk
