I recently got the opportunity to work on a DEI initiative for my organization. Before diving in, I viewed it as just another industry trend. However, as I delved deeper, I realized the critical importance of DEI practices. Implementing DEI not only helps build the right organizational culture but also leverages the diverse backgrounds and cultures of its people, bringing invaluable knowledge and perspectives. According to me, DEI is not just a moral imperative but also a business imperative. The benefits of embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion are far-reaching, from enhanced innovation and expanded market reach to improved talent acquisition and risk mitigation. By prioritizing DEI, organizations position themselves for long-term success in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world. It’s time for businesses to recognize the transformative power of DEI and take proactive steps to create inclusive workplaces that drive innovation, foster growth, and make a positive impact on society as a whole. #DEI #people #culture

How diverse is your organization? How inclusive is your organization? How committed is your organization to nurturing a culture of diversity and inclusion? Do you believe in the financial benefits of an authentic culture of diversity, equity and inclusion? Daily Shake Up No. 945 highlights three things related to cultures of diversity, equity and inclusion: 1. The financial benefits of having an authentic culture of diversity, equity and inclusion; 2. The importance of authentically embracing a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (versus checking a box with a DEI policy); 3. The reality of resistance to authentically embracing and nurturing cultures of diversity, equity and inclusion. There’s mountains of evidence that diverse and inclusive workplaces win, but there’s diminishing numbers of organizations committed to building diverse and inclusive workplaces. What’s the miss? If we know DEI wins, then why are we choosing to lose by not committing to DEI? Is it too hard? Is it too uncomfortable? Is it too different? Is it too controversial? Is it too innovative? My guess is we all know that innovation wins in business, and diversity, equity and inclusion is the innovation with the greatest ROI (financial, personal, relational and cultural). Impactful leadership is about embracing the discomfort in order to innovate, especially when it comes to your people, and diversity, equity and inclusion is the pot of gold of innovation. #SnowGlobeLeadership #NischwitzGroup #SnowGlobeLiving #Leadership #DEI #Diversity #Inclusion #Culture

Schulte Chief Innovation Officer and Chief DEI Officer John Kenneth Johnson recently authored the article, "Schulte's Culture of Connection and Belonging," for Savoy Magazine, offering insights into the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). He outlined the firm's DEI efforts, which are guided by four foundational principles: ensuring workplace equity, nurturing diverse talent, cultivating a sense of belonging and making a meaningful societal impact. Schulte's inclusive approach—embodied by the "one firm, one team" ethos—paves the way for industry-leading inclusivity policies that extend to business professionals as well as lawyers. It's been just over a month since I launched my latest book: The Inclusion Illusion: An HR Guide to Educating Execs on DEI and I'm blown away by the response I'm getting. Here's what people who I really trust have said: “For many people working in the DEI space, it isn't just a job, it's a calling. They run high on purpose and passion but when their efforts are ineffective, they feel completely deflated. Katherine has a refreshing vision that inspires a broader appreciation of DEI (and it’s not what you might think). Reading this book gives people the tools to be more impactful with less effort in their DEI initiatives.” Wai Cheung - Life Purpose 'Inner Game' Specialist Creator of The Reaction Code "This book will help DEI practitioners build greater consensus and resources behind their activities. It will help employee resource group leaders understand the complex landscape in which they are trying to make a difference and bigger impact. The Inclusion Illusion serves a wider variety of DEI stakeholders in their quest for the ultimate inclusive workplace.” Pinky Ghadiali Multi Award-Winning Transformational Leader, Founder and CEO at Netwomen™️ If you've got any of these challenges this book may be for you: ✅ Senior leaders don't "get it" ✅ The DEI strategy has landed on deaf ears ✅ No one is taking responsibility for or doing anything on the DEI plans ✅ Employees don't care about the company DEI priorities, they just want to focus on what's interesting to them ✅ No matter how much anyone does on DEI, employees still complain it's not enough ✅ There is a disconnect between the corporate message and the reality "on the ground." ✅ Line managers think DEI doesn't relate to them (it's someone else's problem/responsibility) Let's break through the inclusion illusion together and transform our workplaces into healthy, happy, inclusive spaces where everyone thrives. Celebrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Building Bridges for a Better Future Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are more than just corporate buzzwords—they are fundamental principles that shape thriving, innovative, and empathetic workplaces. When we embrace diversity, we gain access to a wealth of perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Equity ensures that every individual has access to fair opportunities and resources to succeed. Inclusion creates an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to the table. But DEI isn't just about policy—it's about action. It’s the conversations we have, the opportunities we create, and the systems we challenge to ensure fairness and representation for all. Here’s how we can foster a culture of DEI: 🔹 Listen and Learn: Actively seek out and respect diverse perspectives. 🔹 Be Proactive: Address biases, both conscious and unconscious, in hiring, promotions, and everyday interactions. 🔹 Champion Equity: Provide resources and support tailored to the needs of individuals, understanding that equal treatment doesn’t always mean equitable outcomes. 🔹 Cultivate Belonging: Build spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Organizations that prioritize DEI not only foster happier teams but also drive better results. Research shows that diverse teams are more innovative, adaptive, and resilient. Let’s commit to making DEI a cornerstone of our professional and personal lives. Together, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed—regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances. #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #Innovation
