A tsunami of research will lead to the increased pace and scale of innovations. The system constraint is the rate of awareness and learning to get to understandings the enable actionable efforts for innovations that drive change and transformation. Collaboration, crowdsourcing, partnerships and dynamic innovations ecosystems are key to riding this wave. Spending more time in opportunity awareness, connecting and building relationships enables social networks to emerge and disrupt existing paradigms.

Interdisciplinary research is indispensable in today's world, where complex challenges demand holistic solutions. The fusion of knowledge across academic fields has led to remarkable innovations, such as bioinformatics, which merges computer science, biology, and medicine to decode genetic data for personalized medicine. Similarly, collaborations between engineers, urban planners, and environmental scientists are shaping sustainable cities with energy-efficient systems and green infrastructure. This interdisciplinary approach is crucial for addressing urbanization challenges sustainably. Beyond solving problems, interdisciplinary research sparks creativity and innovation by breaking traditional boundaries. For instance, blending art and technology has enhanced user interface design, making digital products more accessible and user-friendly. While interdisciplinary research faces hurdles like methodological differences and funding constraints, its benefits are profound. By encouraging collaboration and fresh perspectives, it paves the way for groundbreaking discoveries and solutions to global issues. It is imperative for universities and research institutions to champion and fund interdisciplinary collaborations for a more innovative future.

COST Actions are not just about research funding; they represent a broader, more integrated approach to scientific collaboration that can lead to ground breaking discoveries and innovations. A COST Action is a bottom-up initiative, meaning that the topics are proposed by the researchers themselves rather than being dictated by the funding body.
