Christmas Dos: Do you Do, or do you Not Do them? Time of Dos is upon us! Some people love them, and some people hate them. I believe they may be not so good if the party comes with a sense of an unnecessary obligation to attend, or with no consideration of people’s needs. It may then end up being counterproductive and cause more stress. I am in favour though if the event is well-planned from the perspective of it being inclusive, taking into account people’s preferences and outside commitments, as well as maybe having a positive theme of celebrating the achievements of the year. It can be a good morale-boost and an opportunity to have a fun social event and a catch-up with those who we are not always in contact with. What are your thoughts? Stress or Fun?

🎄I finally got the name of the colleague I'll be gifting as their Secret Santa. I'm glad that it's someone I know relatively well. However, they love the fine things in life...anyway I love giving presents and so I'm up for the challenge 🥵. This then got me thinking of how we take this tradition for granted, yet Secret Santa is an untapped opportunity for employees and teachers to energize members and cultivate connections because it: 🎈 Boosts motivation 🎈 Strengthens relationships 🎈 Drives positivity etc. 🎁Here’s how to ensure your Secret Santa hits all the right notes this year: 1️⃣ Set clear guidelines Agree on a reasonable budget that ensures inclusivity. Adding a theme—like “handmade gifts,” “local brands,” or “nostalgia”—keeps the exchange fun and creative. 2️⃣ Make it inclusive Allow everyone to participate but consider cultural and personal preferences. If someone opts out, find alternative ways to include them in the festivities. 3️⃣ Use technology for draws Platforms like Elfster or DrawNames allow for anonymous and randomized selections. They even let participants share wish lists! 4️⃣ Encourage personalization🎀 A small, thoughtful item tied to the recipient's interests or personality creates a lasting impression. 5️⃣ Grand reveal Turn the reveal into a fun event!✨️ Ideas include: Guess Who - Recipients guess who their Secret Santa is. Story Time - Each Santa shares why they picked their gift. Trivia Game - Use quizzes to make the exchange interactive. 6️⃣ Celebrate Together Pair the exchange with a festive event; hot cocoa, snacks, or even a team lunch, to amplify the joy. 🎅 A well-thought-out Secret Santa can go beyond gifts, fostering laughter, gratitude, and connection in your workplace and in your classroom. How are you planning yours? Share your tips and repost this guide to spread the cheer! 🎉 #secretsanta #festiveseason #zippysclassroom

𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. Today, during our All-Staff Forum, the spirit of Christmas was truly alive. Everyone came together to play Secret Santa, exchange thoughtful gifts, and share moments of laughter. The joy and excitement on everyone’s faces while unwrapping their surprises was heartwarming—a true celebration of connection and kindness. I don’t celebrate Christmas, but I’ve always valued what it means to those around me. Seeing my colleagues light up at the thought of family time, rest, or reconnection reminds me of how important these traditions are to them. For me, it’s not about the holiday itself—it’s about being there for the people I work with. Over the years, I’ve made it a point to support my colleagues during this time, whether it’s by taking on responsibilities, offering a listening ear, or simply being present when they needed it most. And in return, they’ve shown up for me in moments that mattered—during Ramadan, Eid, personal milestones, or when I simply needed a helping hand. It’s never been about keeping score. It’s about mutual respect, understanding, and care. That’s the beauty of a real team. It’s not transactional. It’s not about expecting something in return. It’s about showing up for each other, appreciating our differences, and building a culture of trust and support. We may not always share the same beliefs, but we can always share kindness. 𝐌𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: It’s not about who celebrates what—it’s about recognizing when someone needs support and offering it without hesitation. 𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: I hope this season brings you joy, love, and togetherness. 𝐓𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭: your efforts are seen and appreciated more than you know. 𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴, 𝘺’𝘢𝘭𝘭! 🎄 Merry Christmas! 🎅 This Christmas, let's take a moment to reflect on what this festival teaches us in today's fast-paced world. Amid the hustle of modern life, here are some timeless lessons we can embrace: Gratitude for the Present: Life moves at lightning speed, and moments like these remind us to pause and appreciate what we have. Cherish your loved ones and celebrate the joy of togetherness. The Gift of Giving: Beyond material presents, giving kindness, time, and love can create memories that last a lifetime. Let’s make generosity a daily habit, not just a festive tradition. Unity in Diversity: Christmas brings people together regardless of their backgrounds. In a world growing ever more connected, let’s celebrate our differences and find strength in unity. Living the Moment: Decorations, meals, laughter—it’s all about creating and enjoying moments. Take a break from digital distractions and truly live in the now. This holiday season, let’s embrace these lessons and carry them into the new year. Because every day we wake up is a chance to celebrate life. Let’s make the most of it! 🌟 Wishing you all a joyous and meaningful Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. 🎁 #MerryChristmas #ModernLessons #Gratitude #Unity #CelebrateTheMoment

I𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼? There are so many people that every Friday are celebrating the end of the week because they feel relieved: no more work duties that they hate. I also celebrate Fridays, but for another reason: for me it’s about reflecting on my week and seeing how much impact have I made by what I do. Yesterday I received this message after a coaching session on relationships and it really melt my heart. I am truly blessed living my purpose and very thankful for being aware of it from a very young age. For those that are still looking for their purpose and mission in life, these few questions might help: 1. What do you find yourself doing effortlessly and with ease, that others often seek your help with? 2. What activities do you love and enjoy doing, regardless of whether you're paid or not? 3. What would you continue to do even if you never had to work for money again? Share your answers below, I am curious and reach out if you want to receive some of my gift, I will be delighted to help you to kick-start your life and relationships!

As we’re nearing the end of the year, are you taking the time to reflect on what you’ve done and what you want to do? I love using A Christmas Carol as a structure for my end of year retros! If you want to use the format: 💡The Ghost of Christmas Past: Reflect on your past year. What are the things you want to celebrate? What would you do differently? 🎁The Ghost of Christmas Present: Consider the present. What are you grateful for? What makes you happy? 🎉The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come: Think ahead: what would the perfect year look like for you? What do you want to be celebrating next year? Reflecting on all of these things means that you can go into the new year focused on the things that really matter to you. So, if you use this format? What are your Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come? Bonus points if you immediately watch The Muppet Christmas Carol* after this! * The best Christmas movie ever** ** I once got a pub quiz answer wrong for insisting Scrooge was visited by 5 spirits since I didn’t realise having two Marleys is only part of the Muppet version.

God's light really brighten my path, after so many years trying and falling I really pulled this one off. Patience and hard work really pays. I remember when i had to plan a 21st birthday celebration within a month, I swear I wanted to reject the offer but i remembered how much i needed this, then i started by making a checklist that will help me to get organised before the big day. Using a party planning checklist and creating an even timeline are just some of the many things you can do to make sure everything goes smoothly, even if you don't have any experience with party planning, you can still throw a memorable get together. At the end of the day, parties are all about bringing people together and having fun. Keeping this in mind throughout the process and using it as a compass as you make your major party planning decisions is a foolproof way to throw one of the parties of all time. I must say I had a successful event.

🎄✨ “It’s a Wonderful Life”—A Timeless Christmas Eve Tradition ✨🎄 Every Christmas Eve, millions of us gather around screens to revisit a story that feels like a warm embrace: It’s a Wonderful Life. Released in 1946, this Frank Capra masterpiece isn’t just a movie—it’s a rite of passage, a mirror reflecting the beauty and challenges of being human. 💫 The story of George Bailey resonates because it’s our story. His struggles, sacrifices, and moments of doubt remind us of the times we’ve questioned our own worth. But through Clarence the angel’s intervention, George discovers a truth that transforms him—and us: every life matters. 🌟 The film’s timeless message is clear: the true measure of wealth isn’t in material success, but in the relationships we nurture and the lives we touch. In a world often focused on individual achievements, It’s a Wonderful Life reminds us of the power of community, kindness, and gratitude. ❤️ So why do we return to this classic every Christmas Eve? Because it’s more than entertainment—it’s a ritual that prepares our hearts for the season’s deeper meaning. As we watch George rediscover hope and love, we’re reminded to treasure the people around us and embrace the gift of life itself. As Clarence so beautifully puts it: “No man is a failure who has friends.” 💕 This Christmas Eve, let’s carry George Bailey’s lesson into our own lives. Small acts of kindness, moments of gratitude, and connections with others can ripple outward to make the world a better place. 🌍 🎥✨ Here’s to keeping the tradition alive—and remembering that it truly is a wonderful life. ✨🎄 #ItsAWonderfulLife #ChristmasTradition #Gratitude #HolidaySeason #KindnessMatters

TRIGGER WARNING ! THIS POST TALKS ABOUT THE 'C' WORD IN NOVEMBER !!!! For the first time in many a year, I'm looking forward to a Christmas Party. Usually it's been a bit of a conundrum for me. - I don't want to go to them. I'm Hard of Hearing, so I can't hear. - They're at a place difficult to access via public transport, so I'll drive if I can - which means I don't drink. - I've always relied on having a few drinks so that I can hopefully socialise a little more easily, but then, that means I'm tied to public transport. - So many times public transport has failed me, coupled with the fact I find trains so relaxing, I end up falling asleep and waking up in Guildford at 2a.m. Which would be brilliant if I lived in Guildford! - So I usually just end up standing there nodding along without being able to hear, or joining in anyway, getting snippets of the conversation. - Or I don't go, full stop, which isn't following proper etiquette. - Or I go, and leave early, which also isn't following proper etiquette. As I said, "for the first time in many a year..." So not all of them were challenging to me, but I since found out that lots of ones I did enjoy were because people I was with were Neurodiverse, although we didn't all know it at the time. This year, I'm going to an Open Mic Christmas Relaxed Party Type Thing (It doesn't have an actual name, so that's the best description). I know: - How to get there - That there'll be music. - That there'll be Chinese Takeaway to eat. - I'll play a few tunes. - That I won't need to drink to socialise. - That I'll be able to get home. - That I'll be able to arrive and leave at a time I choose. - And ultimately, that I will enjoy it. (Picture is a drawing of me playing a Peavey Wolfgang guitar that my son drew, with the Eddie Van Halen striped logo as background, representing me rocking at a Christmas Party).

4wI do Tracey. You might not be familiar with this, but I put an ad in the paper decades ago for aluminum Christmas tree with a working color wheel and an older couple had one for me. It's really beautiful but most people that see it don't know what it is.
