Classical music and springtime are an elite combination, which made this video so satisfying to make. 🌸 Social media marketers will understand the effort it takes to create a Reel like this solo. 🤳🏼 Not only does it involve running around different locations with a gimble and testing out multiple angles and pans underneath trees, bushes, and blooms; but it also requires an understanding of the look, feel, and message you're trying to showcase. Andddd smushing all of that thought and content into a Reel that's less than one minute and thirty seconds. My goal was to capture how it feels to listen to our classical radio station, WCLV, in a moment when a certain song rises through and summons the thought, "Oh, this is JUST what I needed," while also inspiring the audience to give back. And after the hours I spent creating it, I can proudly say, "Oh, this is JUST how I wanted it to be." 👉🏼 Keep classical music thriving in NEO by supporting WCLV: https://lnkd.in/gnqKc7Ha #socialmedia #marketing #smm #radio

We are all conforming and slowly losing value in many areas. What are we getting in exchange? How are we advancing as a society? If our values are no longer passed onto the next generation, how can we expect to compete or serve in the next iteration of society? Rick Beato's commentary about the shift in music resonated with me for two reasons: The Economics of Music: There was a time when you had to work hard to earn the chance to hear and own a piece of music. Teenagers used to save up to buy records or wait eagerly for their favorite songs to play on the radio. Now, with streaming services, you can listen to any band for a single monthly fee. While it's easier and cheaper, something valuable has been lost. Devaluation of Music and the Art Form: Beato points out that more songs are uploaded per second now than ever. With everything just a click away, you can go through an entire musician's discography in a day. This ease of access means there's no longer the same sense of anticipation or the shared experience of enjoying music together. This shift raises important questions about how we value art and culture in the digital age. While I appreciate the accessibility and the chance to discover music that may not be available in local stores, I wonder about the true benefit of having so much available at once. I don't have answers, just questions.

It's Bandcamp Friday! 🎸 🎉 But what does that actually mean for musicians and the people that buy their music? Bandcamp is a music platform where independent musicians can release their own music directly to an audience, without all the hassle and stress of finding a record label that's willing to promote your music. It's a lifeline for many bands, singers, musicians and producers who love making music but haven't yet hit the big time. Bandcamp doesn't charge a monthly subscription fee. But it *does* take a chunk of the money fans pay when buying a track, album or merchandise – 15% on digital items, and 10% on physical goods. So, what does any of this have to do with Bandcamp Friday? 🤔 Bandcamp Friday's happen once every month, with Bandcamp waving their usual take of musician's income. If you buy an album on Bandcamp Friday, the artist gets 100% of that money. That means more income for the artist, a healthier income to support their art and more chance to make new music for their fans. It's simple, straightforward and easy to understand. If you really want to support an independent artist, buy their music on Bandcamp today! 🙌 If you're into leftfield dance, electronica, techno, ambient, chillout and drum & bass, check out my latest releases as CommsBreakdown. Treat yourself to a track, an EP or an album (or all three) and know that you're supporting me, my music and my ability to fund this musical side hustle Many thanks, if you do decide to dive in an buy something 🙌 😃 https://lnkd.in/gJe3KvBh #bandcamp #bandcampfriday #newmusic #originalmusic #music #dancemusic #EDM #techno #drumandbass #ambient #chillout

Whether we're aware of it or not, many of us spend our days using music to mirror our emotions. We've all made a good day even better by putting on a pop banger, or used a sad song to intensify a serious moping session. But what if we can use music to give our daily routines a gentle boost? It was a real delight to speak to Tara Venkatesan, PhD about the powerful impact music has on just about every part of our mind and bodies, and how we can harness that impact for the better. Check it out at the link in comments! 💫

Words used to carry a measure of meaning; Focus is one that included a note of nearness. Now, understanding a tone of distance is can make a great difference. A simple note is good; a pair of notes can bring more understanding and a chord can bring power. Separating the chord from the distracting middle notes of a chord will help achieve the goal of music.

Entertaining and reassuring (!) article from Ted Gioia: ‘All Bad Music Will Eventually Disappear - Or how I learned to stop worrying about those godawful playlists' Ted argues that, while it might take a while, natural selection is inherently at play in terms of music surviving the test of time - or not. If people don't want to listen (and actually listen) to a piece or song, in time, it will not be played or performed. I loved this example: "Wendell Hall had the biggest hit recording in 1924 “It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo’,” and was so famous back then that his wedding was broadcast live on the radio (the first time that ever happened). But his name is forgotten today, while George Gershwin’s much more ambitious work Rhapsody in Blue, from that same year, is beloved all over the world." He makes the point though that it doesn't quite work in reverse, and that good music is fragile, and can fall by the wayside. He therefore calls on critics and all of us working in the music industry, to lose any negativity and instead to put our energies into telling positive stories! I'm always banging on about the need for those of us working in smaller genres such as classical and jazz, to come together and fight for our little corner of the industry. Let's keep spreading the good news about the wonderful music that is being made and performed, often by artists who are making huge life sacrifices in order to pursue their passion. "This survey makes clear why music writers have a greater responsibility to write positive music reviews about outstanding works than negative hit pieces on bad music. The bad music will go away on its own. But good (and even great) artists often need a helping hand if their work is to survive. Just telling people to be kinder doesn’t seem to have much impact. But maybe the larger lessons of history—at least as applied to music and the arts—will have some impact. Those lessons are clear: We don’t need to destroy the bad stuff, because there’s some kind of quasi-evolutionary process at work that will eliminate it anyway. But goodness is more fragile, and needs our support." #thehonestbroker #musicjournalism #supportartists #positivevibes #positivestories

You have the same music taste as this character. Increasingly: so do I. ___ Partly that's the way of all things. Younger people like more interesting and contemporary media than older people, as a rule. How to arrest, or slow, our slide into irrelevance? Stay open minded, run from the convenient conclusion that the music made when you were younger was somehow better than today's, and listen to this playlist: https://lnkd.in/gZGsJ8X7 Jd'A
