#ActingNow: Innovation for place-based transformations based on partnerships for fair green and digital transitions. Recently published by the Joint Research Centre and the European Committee of the Regions, the #ACTIONbook provides the way forward for #TerritoriesInAction: « Innovation alone cannot help us tackle such problems or achieve the transformations needed as set out in the European Green Deal, the EU’s own ‘socio-economic transformation strategy’. New innovation policies must satisfy two important prerequisites: 1. local and regional stakeholders, including individuals, businesses, knowledge institutions and local authorities, must be meaningfully involved; 2. policy must strive for transformative and system-level innovation to enable and accelerate the required trans-formations. Interterritorial collaboration, network governance and coordinated policy and action mixes enable efforts at local, regional and national levels that achieve long-term societal well-being and climate-resilient development »

Honoured to be invited to speak at the #GreenVenue segment of Coliseum Global Sports Venue Alliance Summit EUROPE 2024 by Coliseum Global Sports Venue Alliance, thanks to Michael Rennschmied, MA! 🎉 Green venue management plays a crucial role in preventing and reducing the environmental impact of a venue, both from an infrastructural 🏟 and operational ⚽ perspective. It encompasses various aspects such as energy and water efficiency, waste prevention, circular economy projects, and sustainable construction material selection. Effective data collection and environmental management systems like #iso14001 or #iso20121 are essential for measuring the impact and improving performance. Green venue management is a fundamental aspect of any football club's sustainability strategy. Whether the club owns and manages its stadium or not, it should be integrated into their operations to ensure cooperation with the venue owner and data sharing for sustainability reporting purposes. Join me on March 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to learn more about this important topic and how it can benefit your organization! #sustainability #greenmanagement #sportsvenues

❗ 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: 2 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 ❗ Last year, I attended the European Week of Regions and Cities in Bruxelles as a participant. There was such a strong desire to act, but I also noticed a clear lack of expertise necessary to turn these ambitions into reality and "connect the dots". At that time I couldn’t help, but wondered: how can I contribute to support cities in implementing Green Deal policies? This year, I’m excited to invite you to our workshop at the 2024 #EURegionsWeek edition, organized by ICLEI Europe, Comitato europeo delle regioni, Aalborg Kommune, City of Budapest, me and Luisa Marelli as moderator. The event is titled "The future of the Green Deal is local! Moving from theory to practice" and will take place on Friday, 10th October at 09.30. In fact, it’s time for moving from ideas to action: What targets should be implemented at urban level? What are the indicators available? How does this contribute to the 2030 Agenda? If you will join the EUWRC 2024 and, like us, believe that the future of the #greentransition depends on concrete local actions and want to make a difference, this event is for you: https://lnkd.in/dpb8skUc Last seats available! Join us and be part of building a more sustainable tomorrow! 🌍💚 EU Science, Research and Innovation Alexandra Pfohl

In a recent VNCI interview, Jorn van der Meer and Marco Waas shared insights into Nobian’s Further Together program, part of our broader Grow Greener Together initiative. This program empowers our employees to support local projects that enhance sustainability, education, and social cohesion. Jorn van der Meer, responsible for Communication and Public Affairs, emphasizes the collaborative spirit of our mission: “Grow Greener Together is the core philosophy behind what we do. We want to grow as a company, but we want to do it sustainably. It’s beautiful to see this slogan resonate internally. It’s in our company’s DNA to seek partnerships.” Marco Waas, Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, highlights the importance of local engagement: “The direct connection between a company and its surroundings used to be much stronger. By engaging in dialogue, we understand what people think and why they might not feel comfortable with our presence. You must first understand to be understood.” Through Further Together, our employees are actively involved in their communities, from supporting local sports clubs to participating in educational initiatives. This program is not just about financial support but fostering genuine connections and understanding.
