Today, we immersed ourselves in the insightful pre-MWC24 briefing in London. 📍 Leaders and experts from across Ericsson shared profound insights on industry trends and advancements and gave exclusive sneak peeks of what awaits us at #MWC24 Barcelona later this month. 🔮 Here’s are some interesting highlights from today: 🔹 Business insights from the Ericsson Mobility Report; details on how CSPs can capitalize on the 5G business opportunity. 🔹 Uncovered the transformative power of Enterprise Wireless Solutions. 🔹 Two new Ericsson products launches: a future-proof radio portfolio with Open RAN-prepared with 12 new hardware and software solutions and Ericsson Service Orchestration and Assurance, an engine of innovation for multi-domain service orchestration. 🔹 Revealed the key Ericsson themes for MWC: Shape our vision together, Capture the value of 5G for consumers, Capture the value of 5G for enterprise and the public sector and programmable networks. Throwback Thursday: Right about now, those among the wireless ecosystem who did the pilgrimage to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress are experiencing a hangover after over-indulging in cool product launches, bold ideas, media coverage, marathon days of briefings and business development meetings, 20+ thousand daily steps, La Rambla nightlife (and hopefully all those surrounding quarters where one gets completely lost), and, of course, jamon. Now it’s about figuring out what was real, progressing business opportunities since the end of Q1 is upon us, heading to the next show on the calendar, and more. Mere aspirin won’t cure this one! I shared a trifecta (it is college hoops time, after all!) of hangover-themed posts about the 2019 edition of MWC. No surprise, many of those topics and narratives I wrote about resonate today including 5G, CBRS (more appropriately, private cellular networks), Open RAN, techno-business use case clarity, and in-building wireless connectivity which is a big part of the fulfilling the “connected world” vision (this includes pushing cellular coverage/capacity to more buildings than currently addressed -- the “middleprise”). Exploring new horizons: AI and 5G lead the charge at MWC Barcelona 2024S. As the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona concludes, I'm left reflecting on the event's rich discussions and presentations that not only met but often surpassed the high expectations we had. The array of topics promised an in-depth exploration of the innovations shaping the future of mobile technology and digital infrastructure, and it delivered. This year, MWC Barcelona spotlighted the revolutionary capabilities of 5G and 5G Advanced, alongside Open RAN and vRAN, and their roles in driving monetization in the telecom sector. The way 5G Advanced is set to elevate operational efficiency, Open RAN's push towards network interoperability, and vRAN's promise for streamlined network management stood out as transformative. Moreover, the focus on carving out new revenue opportunities through 5G innovations captured our collective imagination, highlighting the industry's drive towards growth and innovation. AI served as a common thread throughout all the discussions, underpinning various aspects of the conference and emphasizing its integral role in shaping the future of mobile technology and new applications. The discussions didn't stop there; security concerns and strides towards GNSS independence also took center stage, reflecting the geopolitical nuances of our time. The growing recognition of GNSS vulnerabilities and the critical emphasis on enhancing 5G security and reliability underscore the industry's proactive approach to future challenges. The show was an illuminating journey through the mobile industry's next chapters. The depth and breadth of conversations provided a foundational understanding of the evolving mobile landscape, with a strong emphasis on security, resilience, and the groundbreaking potential of AI.
