🏥 Ensuring patient comfort and safety during surgery is paramount. Yet, the risk of postoperative infections can significantly increase if hypothermia occurs at any stage of the patient journey. ⏰ Unfortunately, time constraints and limited access to equipment or training often lead to inconsistent implementation of pre and post-warming procedures. This oversight not only results in surgical delays and heightened costs but also undermines patient outcomes. 💡 Prioritizing patient warming protocols can mitigate these risks, enhancing surgical efficiency, reducing expenses, and ultimately, improving patient care. Calling the #Veteran Community, There is peer-reviewed research ongoing showing that around 50% of the mental/behavioral/physical health problems witnessed in the #Veteran community stems from a root cause in #TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). There are a LOT of ways to get a #TBI in the #Military, from concussive to penetrating wounds, and more. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs continues, through the Veterans Benefits Administration, to carry on the abuse of misdiagnosing #TBIs as anything BUT a #TBI. You can have proof of a #TBI, but if you did not document a penetrating wound, through sick call/medical emergency records, the #VBA will deny #TBI claims. I have the peer reviewed research, paid for by the US Army, on this topic if you want/need it for a #TBI claim. Except, the #VBA will still refuse the claim as they have begun lumping #TBIs into behavioral/mental health claims, which means nothing good for #Veterans and does not include the secondary and tertiary physical and neurological effects of a #TBI! Meaning #VA medical care is refusing to treat the patient! If you can share, comment, repost, or add to this discussion, please help! A report by ICES summarizes the findings of three studies exploring #sexbased differences in #mentalhealth service use between Veterans and non-Veterans in Ontario. Female Veterans had significantly higher rates of MH-related physician visits, emergency department visits and hospitalizations compared to female non-Veterans. These findings impart useful information for individuals or organizations with the ability to influence #healthcarepolicy, planning and delivery for the Canadian defence and #publicsafety sectors. https://lnkd.in/gMZRhs6i

Curious if you can get separate VA ratings for GERD and IBS? The answer is yes! As of May 19, 2024, veterans can now receive individual ratings for both conditions under the new Diagnostic Codes (DCs): DC 7206 for GERD and DC 7319 for IBS. For instance, you could be rated at 50% for GERD with esophageal stricture and acid reflux, and 20% for IBS. Previously, ratings for GERD and IBS were combined under broader codes and not separate, but that’s changed.
