[EVENT] Robots v Humans at OTC
Some 28 robots made an appearance at OTC Houston 2024 edition. All sorts of robots: crawling robots, swimming robots, flying robots. For now, humans outnumbered robots at the Houston event to the tune of 1000 to 1.
The offshore oil and gas industry is beginning to embrace robotic technologies[1] as a means of improving operational efficiency, increasing worker safety, and reducing costs. Autonomous robots are being used topsides to read gauges, detect leaks, scan the horizon, take video and audio recordings, and identify anomalies.
Vallourec’s Delphy large-scale hydrogen storage system[2] has its own robotic inspection[3] little helper, the Rover. Same as in the offshore world, the robotic inspection allows Vallourec to increase safety, and reduce CAPEX.
