🌟 Reflections on the 2024 NAEYC Conference in Anaheim, CA! 🌟 Attending the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) conference in Anaheim was an inspiring and energizing experience! Engaging with leaders, educators, and advocates in early childhood education reminded me of the importance of creating meaningful learning environments that support every child’s growth. Key takeaways that I’m excited to bring back to my role as an Early Childhood Education Manager: 1️⃣ Innovative Approaches to Learning: From workshops on child-centered play to discussions on social-emotional learning, I gained new perspectives and practical ideas for fostering creativity and resilience in young learners. 2️⃣ Leadership & Collaboration: The conference highlighted strategies for building effective, supportive teams in early education settings. I’m eager to implement some of these approaches to enhance collaboration and professional growth within our programs. 3️⃣ Equity and Inclusion: Conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion were powerful reminders of our responsibility to create accessible and inclusive classrooms. Learning from others’ experiences will help me champion inclusive practices across our centers. Connecting with others who share the same passion for early education was invaluable, and I look forward to applying these insights to support our teams and the children and families we serve. Let’s keep shaping the future of early childhood education together! #NAEYC2024 #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ProfessionalDevelopment #EducationLeadership #Inclusion #InnovationInEducation #EarlyLearning

Supporting young people through transitions—whether it's starting a new school, moving to a different area, or adjusting to major life changes—is something I’m really passionate about. Having worked closely with service children and seen the unique challenges they face, I've learned just how crucial it is to offer guidance, stability, and understanding during these pivotal moments. Transitions can be tough on young people. Change brings uncertainty, which can affect their confidence, social connections, and even their sense of identity. But with the right support systems, we can help them navigate these shifts in positive, empowering ways. It’s about creating environments where they feel seen, heard, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of the upcoming Service Children's Progression Alliance conference, where we’ll be sharing practical strategies and resources specifically designed for school staff working with service children. By strengthening these support networks, we can make these transitions smoother, reduce anxiety, and build resilience in our young people. Here’s to supporting every young person through life’s transitions—so they know they’re not alone and that there’s a community ready to help them succeed!

🌟 New Practice Note: Measuring Outcomes in Outcomes Based Finance for Early Childhood Care and Education 🌟 This practice note emerges from the Collective Learning Initiative (CLI), a peer-to-peer learning opportunity dedicated to advancing knowledge in outcomes-based financing for early childhood care and education (#OBF4ECCE). Rooted in open dialogue and shared expertise, it reflects the power of collaboration in tackling real-world challenges in this vital field. Measuring outcomes in OBF for ECCE is no small feat! Challenges like the multidimensional nature of child development, diverse service settings, and limited standardised tools make it complex. Developed by NORRAG in partnership with EOF, this note offers actionable strategies for designing effective outcomes measurement in #OBF4ECCE projects. We celebrate this contribution to the evolving ECCE measurement conversation and look forward to sharing EOF’s technical brief on measurement tools next month! 📖 Dive into the insights here: https://lnkd.in/dfz6uHMf #OBF4ECCE #CollectiveLearning #ECCE #OutcomesBasedFinancing Government Outcomes Lab, University of Oxford, Ecorys, Arushi Terway, Georgia Thorne, Lindsay Adams, Mara Airoldi, Andreea Anastasiu, Jonathan Davies Ozsel Beleli Louise A.

Our latest case study delves into the joint evaluation of the Dorset children's locality model, Children Thrive. In early 2023, IPC joined forces with Dorset Council UK to evaluate the impact of their innovative locality-based approach in meeting the needs of children and families. Introduced amidst the pandemic in September 2020, this model integrated children’s services across six locality areas, aiming to provide tailored support during challenging times. 🔍 Key areas explored included: - Consistency of response from children’s services - Quality of strengths-based direct work offered - Continuous professional development for staff - Collection of meaningful feedback for continuous improvement Our intensive methodology, spanning over 11 months, included in-depth case file sampling, confidential interviews with families, and engaging with council staff and partners. The findings, which are both successes and areas for development, will inform the future development of children’s services in Dorset. Dive into the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/eregTy7M

"Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.” - Dalai Lama A lot happens at the National and International levels for AACRAO. However, as an individual who blossomed in the field of Strategic Enrollment Management through my State and Regional Association, I have to shout out to all of the fantastic leaders across the state of Maryland who graciously took me under their wings - Kimberly M. Seth Marc Kamen Jamie Kriger Sheena Luaehu-Diodato MBA Dr. Reginald Garcon Cassandra Moore Keisha Campbell Jinawa McNeil introducing me to AACRAO at the state level, which as a mid-level professional was the initial way, I would truly learn about this organization. From Vice President of Programming to Past President to Chair of the State & Regional Coordinating Committee, I strongly encourage engagement in state and regional associations as a more grassroots way to enhance learning and expand one's network. I am forever a member of CAPACRAO. As you've seen from my reaching back to relaunch, the engagement of the Dual Enrollment Special Interest Group and state and regional associations are communities that extend beyond enrollment management. We are a network of professionals moving the needle daily on access, equity, processes, and practices that greet and graduate learners in higher education. It's more than the front door with us. Our efforts have far-reaching effects. So, I'll ask this: How is your AACRAO State & Regional Association creating magic for your members? Since 1991, AACRAO has been recognizing leaders' creative volunteer efforts. I know that state and regionals are doing great work. However, it would be best if you were recognized. Recognition can keep the momentum going. Submit your AACRAO Non-Member Elbert W. Ockerman Award or Member State & Regional Leader Award (new award category) nomination by October 31st to be recognized for your impactful work at the state and regional levels! I’m excited to launch a White Paper I’ve collaborated on these last few months, working with an absolutely stellar team of philosophers and political economists: Associate Professor Luara Ferracioli, Professor Elizabeth Hill, Dr Ryan Cox and Annika Rees. When we talk about Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Australia, and why it’s so important for it to be available for all kids and properly funded by government, the argument tends to focus on productivity, or enabling women’s workforce participation. If it’s a good discussion, we might hear about how ECEC helps kids access *developmental goods*: the skills they need to be productive adults. These arguments are powerful and have underpinned progress in the long battle for access to ECEC. But there’s an important priority missing from the policy discussion - that the purpose of ECEC should be about giving all kids access to the *intrinsic goods* of childhood - which include the opportunity to make friends, to play and be carefree, to build relationships outside of the family, and to be self directed. Our White Paper, A Flourishing Childhood: The Future of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Australia, draws on political philosophy and political economy to expand our discourse about Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) policy in Australia. I’ve contributed to the work as part of my focus on expanding our #civicimagination in Australia, and it has been wonderful to learn from the team and benefit from the experience of all the sector advocates who have generously contributed feedback. As we move closer to the 2025 federal election, can we imagine more for our expectations of government and the ECEC system? Can we reframe our debate about universal access to ECEC from the perspective of what we owe every child in accessing these intrinsic goods? Can we value childhood in and of itself, rather than as a stepping stone to adulthood? You can read more about the Paper here, love to hear your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/gQgiKtHw

This year's Annual Campaign focuses on “Education is Hope,” emphasizing that education is more than skill-building—it’s a transformative process that fosters human dignity and unlocks potential, even in the most challenging circumstances. Education begins when someone recognizes another’s worth and walks alongside them toward a better future. It’s a journey that not only changes individuals but uplifts entire families and communities. Through initiatives like Crecemos DIJO A.C. in Mexico, AVSI demonstrates how an integrated approach to education—combining academics, nutrition, emotional support, and community engagement—creates pathways to resilience. Children in vulnerable settings gain not only knowledge but also the stability and opportunities needed to thrive, offering hope for their families and communities. This year, we invite you to actively participate in this Campaign. Education doesn’t just impact faraway communities—it inspires all of us to envision and work toward a brighter, shared future.
