🚀 Value.Space announced historic UN collaboration to elevate global mining safety standards 🚀 🛰️ For the first time, satellite-based monitoring and risk profiling is deployed to support United Nations’ work to strengthen mining safety and standards. 📣 Value.Space announced a landmark collaboration to deploy satellite-based monitoring and risk profiling to support United Nations’ work to strengthen mining safety and standards, led by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). For the first time, collaboration with UNECE’s Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents will support deployment of satellite-based monitoring and risk profiling for mining infrastructure. The cooperation was announced in Geneva, Switzerland, on 29 November 2024 - 🔗 link in the comments. "The use of cutting-edge satellite technology will further sharpen UNECE’s support to identify and manage risks linked to mine tailings in the Pan-European region and beyond," said Claudia Kamke Affairs Officer for the UNECE Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents. “Strengthening mine tailings safety is especially crucial given the projected increases in mining activities over the coming decades, including to meet the demands of the energy transition.” "This cooperation represents a significant milestone in advancing the safety of global tailings and is a result of the culmination of our two-year contribution to UNECE’s work on TSF safety. We are proud to support UNECE’s vital efforts in this critical area,” said Reijo Pold, Founder of Value.Space. “By leveraging satellite monitoring, TSF owners and regulators will have access to actionable insights to prevent disasters before they occur. This proactive approach not only protects communities and ecosystems worldwide, but also bolsters global markets and financial stability by mitigating the economic consequences of catastrophic failures.”

In the fast-paced world of modern #mining, the relentless pursuit of production targets often compromises #safety. One #critical area of concern is the frequent practice of dumping near the edges of stockpiles and spoil piles. While necessary for operational #efficiency, this practice increases the #risk of over-the-edge tipping accidents. To mitigate this, dynamic berms must be maintained at specific heights, with the BMS being a technological solution.| Reutech Mining https://lnkd.in/dw2ra7Uc

Happy start of the year; Does your team initiate on time (on rate, on #sequence and #safe) and finish on time all the core process? #Effective #Shiftchange will help your front line supervision to be focused on the deviations, then the decision will be effective and efficient. If not, what is the amount of lost tons, ounces-pounds- tons and cost that every day is gone? If you want to optimize the relevant activities and move to a better practice impacting profitability let's us, together we will do it. #Africa #Australia #Iceland #Canada #Mexico #Sweden #Peru #Philippines
The shift change and quality of handovers often reflect the state of equipment maintenance, the conditions and the adherence to the plan on a mine site. Improperly communicated information during a handover can quickly affect the key actions to start the shift on time like: equipment reliability, putting the security of personnel on the line during the following shifts. Operators may not always receive sufficient training on conducting effective shift changes. This gap can lead to misunderstandings about what information needs to be communicated and how it should be documented, further complicating the process. To ensure a safe environment for personnel, a strong foundation of systems, processes supported by effective habits must be developed to support effective communication.
