The place had a great vibe—good music like Bee Gees' Staying Alive, nice décor, and yeah, some good-looking people too. It was just perfect. But here's the thing—it's super important to know who you're working with. Vistara tied up with airindiaflights , and we all know the reputation there—bad service, unhappy staff, and now even pilots protesting over pay cuts. Big brands often make this mistake of teaming up with cheaper companies, and it just ruins them in the end. So, my advice? Keep hustling, keep your standards high, and never settle for less. The picture appended below is from #Vistara cabin today, after it has been sunset or rather merged into #AirIndia. This post is not about how a fast growing and aspirational airline has been merged with Maharaja and the management lessons contained there in. Enough has been said on this subject by many. This picture however will invoke and stir many thoughts about power of packaging and branding. We have been taught, many a times that packaging and branding are like kings or may be emperors. Albeit, here is the airline that is pushing out every known norm. Here are the reasons 1. Airline operates under Air India brand carrying Vistara facade and branding particularly on airplanes that belong to Vistara 2. At the boarding gate & check in terminal, staff are in Airindia uniform 3. Inside the plane the livery is all about Vistara and cabin crew uniform is also Vistara one. When I asked the air hostess about these uniforms, she gleefully said that they will not change those uniforms until the planes are painted with AirIndia branding So here is the brand that has mixed packaging, they seem to have taken a leap of faith thinking Air India brand and Tata name has enough equity that makes customers ignore these nitty gritties. Or, have they compromised on golden rules of packaging and branding? Or, are they rewriting these rules? Some thoughts to ponder over!!

I'm feeling really bad seeing after Watching all the emotional reels and posts of Vistara employees and passengers during the merger with Air India really hits home. It's more than just two airlines coming together; its the end of an era for Vistara, a brand that stood for exceptional service and a unique flying experience. Seeing the heartfelt farewells, the memories shared, and the emotions running high, reminds me of how much an airline can mean to people. 𝗜’𝗺 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 that in today’s world, where toxic work cultures are all too common, Vistara stood out as a company that valued its people. When a Great Brand Loses Its Soul: A Personal Reflection on Vistara - TATA SIA Airlines Ltd. Post-Takeover In the world of branding, positive change takes time and effort. Transformations are measured in increments, as values are reinforced and customer trust is earned. However, when a strong, well-respected brand is taken over by a larger but perhaps less refined entity, the opposite can happen—almost overnight. Today, I experienced this firsthand during my first flight with Vistara after its takeover by Air India. It was immediately clear that something had shifted. The warm greetings at the entry and personal greetings for their frequent flyers, that once defined Vistara’s service were absent. Cushions in the premier economy seats—once a small touch that made a big difference—were missing, the meal tray looked “un premium” Even the materials in the seat pockets were worn out, and the overall service quality was subpar. A long wait for the stepladder capped off an experience that no longer felt premium. What struck me most was how quickly the “DNA” of the brand seemed to have changed. Vistara, once synonymous with refined service and premium experiences, felt like a shadow of its former self. It’s a reminder that while building a great brand takes time, it can be diminished in a flash if not carefully nurtured, even after a change in ownership.
