M4 CARBINE: The M4 Carbine is a gas-operated, magazine-fed, selective-fire firearm widely used by the U.S. military. Its construction and operation are intricate yet efficient, allowing for reliable performance in various conditions. The upper receiver group houses the barrel, bolt carrier group (BCG), and gas tube. When a round is fired, gas from the explosion travels through the gas tube, forcing the BCG rearward. This action extracts and ejects the spent cartridge while simultaneously cocking the hammer. The buffer spring then pushes the BCG forward, chambering a new round. The lower receiver group contains the trigger assembly, magazine well, and adjustable buttstock. The trigger assembly, including the trigger, hammer, and disconnector, controls the firing mechanism. The handguard or rail system protects the user’s hand from the barrel’s heat and provides mounting points for accessories. Loading the M4 involves inserting a magazine and pulling the charging handle to chamber a round. Upon pulling the trigger, the firing pin strikes the cartridge primer, igniting the gunpowder and propelling the bullet forward. The gas impingement system then cycles the action, readying the firearm for subsequent shots. This combination of components and mechanisms ensures the M4’s effectiveness and adaptability in diverse combat scenarios.

I can't stress enough how important it is to ensure that the metal surface is clean prior to plating to achieve a flawless finish. I like to compare this to the scenario of - you wouldn't use a paint without a primer first. The quality of prep work is proportionate to the quality of finish.
