This is a great example of taking circular economy to the next level. Aquaculture by-products hold great prospects not just for the industry itself but also for the aquafeed industry as a component in insect meal increasing feeds performance, nutritional values and sustainability. Kudos for Patagonia King Salmon and Natpro Chile for promoting this important initiative. Hoping to see more initiatives like this and bureaucrats also in the #EU and elsewhere in the world pushing forward this subject. Here's yet another "seastainable" milestone in forward farming our Patagonian Kings! Our increased sustainability efforts are coming full circle in our collaboration with sister company Natpro Chile. Together, we developed a unique salmon feed in which insect meal plays a prominent role. And not just any insect meal; our advanced aquaculture's organic by-products are a key ingredient for Natpro Chile's black soldier fly larvae. The larvae are subsequently processed into highly nutritious insect meal, which in turn feeds our salmon. A royally circular diet for our regal Kings! #PatagoniaKingSalmon #Natpro #sustainablefishfarm #forwardfarmed #aquaculture #chile #fishfeed Miguel Angel Leiva Hans Den Bieman Eduardo Waldron Ernesto Cobo Oberpaur

It was fantastic to speak to hundreds of oysters farmers and key industry stakeholders from across Australia at the NSW oyster conference in Port Macquarie yesterday. Oyster farming is one of the most sustainable forms of food production, providing a range of environmental service benefits that are not always well understood. Oysters are filter feeding bivalve molluscs that remove excess nutrients from our waterways, like nitrogen and phosphorus, filtering water to improve water quality. Oysters are also produced with a very low carbon footprint compared to other forms of protein. Other aquaculture species such as mussels and algae have similar attributes and environmental benefits. Oyster farming can only prosper if it is underpinned by clean and healthy waterways, meaning the industry, which generates significant economic and employment activity across regional NSW, are the biggest advocates for a healthy environment. We will be working with the industry and key stakeholders to develop a growth strategy that brings to life the sectors ambition to double its value by 2030.
