A year ago, #Georgia launched Forest Friend (http://forestfriend.ge/), an online crowdfunding platform to raise funds for saving forests. Since then, the platform has raised more than US$66,000 in donations. 💰 This initiative has united private companies, individual supporters, and volunteers in the mission to restore the precious #forests. 🌲 Georgia’s forests cover nearly half of the country's land area and play a critical role in preserving its unique biodiversity and providing important resources for local communities. Healthy forests are crucial for the well-being of people, the eradication of poverty and the creation of a sustainable environment for future generations. However, the first national forest inventory in 2022 showed that a large part of Georgia’s forests is degraded due to natural factors (diseases, fires) and human activities (illegal logging, overgrazing). These degraded forests are losing their ability to protect, absorb carbon and provide resources, making their restoration more important than ever. Ahead of the #WorldEnvironmentDay, we call for efforts to preserve vital forests. UNDP in Georgia

At Olmanyara tilil,as part of our afforestation activities, we go beyond just tree planting; there is a need to ensure that trees planted are taken care of and communities are engaged and educated. In partnership with local groups, we have set up a total of ten tree nurseries that cover four wards within Kieni East. These nurseries offer a steady supply of commercially important and indigenous trees that are suitable within the area. By involving the community in management of the nurseries, we are giving them ownership of their local environment. One of our strategies is increasing awareness and educating the community about the objective of managed replanting and the need to conserve forests, the long term benefits of which are immense. This makes it sure that tree planting is not an isolated one time effort but an ongoing commitment to regeneration of deforested land. Further, our programs have also created improved economic activities for the local people. Solar-powered wells help provide water for Buffalo on remote Native American ranches. Some of our Buffalo caretakers live on ranches where accessible water sources are deep underground or miles away. For some, the only solution is a well pump system that runs on solar power. Quality systems can range from $3,000 to more than $10,000 each. The Buffalo need fresh water, and solar-powered wells can provide that without miles of electric lines. No donation is too small! Since 2016, Firmrock Children Helper has supported vulnerable children in the Migwani region with education, clothing, and basic needs. Over the years, we’ve expanded to include farming, tree nurseries, counseling, and community development. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, sustaining our children’s mission became a challenge due to a lack of donor funding. After much thought, we made the difficult decision to shift our focus. While we cherish the impact we made in children's lives, we are now directing our energy toward addressing agricultural and water challenges in dry regions like ours. Our new mission, Firmrock Agri-Water Initiative, focuses on sustainable farming and water solutions to empower our community in Migwani. We’ve already made significant progress, but to scale our efforts, we urgently need resources for farming activities. Today, on the 22nd of April, we celebrate Earth Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about our planet and taking action to protect it. At Bentley, we strive not only to be a successful business but also to have a positive impact on the world around us.   This year, we would like to highlight one of our initiatives that we are particularly proud of: our partnership with Trees for All. As a partner of Trees for All, we make an annual donation to contribute to tree planting efforts, an essential step in preserving our ecosystems and reducing our ecological footprint.   But it doesn't stop there. We also want to involve our customers in this important work. That's why we are introducing a new option during the ordering process: the opportunity to donate a tree. At the end of the year, all donated trees, along with our own contribution, will be added to our donation to Trees for All.
