Lately, I’ve been thinking about what’s been happening with United Healthcare and the tragedy surrounding their CEO. The public response says so much—it’s not just about what happened, but about how disconnected these big healthcare companies have become from the people they’re supposed to serve. Healthcare isn’t just business. It’s people. It’s about trust, relationships, and showing up when people need you the most. Somewhere along the way, a lot of companies forgot that. They stopped listening. They stopped communicating. And that’s why people are frustrated and hurting. In 2025, I believe this has to change. Businesses in healthcare need to realign with their purpose—serving people. They need to ask: • Are we listening to our community? • Are we making their lives better? • Are we showing up when it matters? This is why I started Care4Aging. I wanted to create something real—something that puts people first. Caregivers, seniors, families—they deserve better. They deserve connection, support, and solutions that actually help. If you’re running a business in healthcare, I hope you’re paying attention. The world is changing, and people are speaking up. In the end, it’s simple: if you don’t care about people, you have no business being in healthcare. For me, 2025 is all about showing up for the people I serve. Because at the end of the day, purpose and people come first. Money will follow purpose. When value is given. Always.

Lord Darzi’s review into the NHS is dominating the headlines today. And as his report makes clear, the health service faces huge challenges both in providing patients with the high quality, accessible care they need, as well as ensuring tax payers are getting value for money from record levels of expenditure, with an explicit call to “re-empower patients” so they can take as much control of their care as possible. Given the scale of the task ahead in getting the NHS back on track, it’s vital that all parts of the health system come together to play their role in ensuring the public get the health service they deserve. Independent providers already deliver care to millions of NHS patients each year across every part of England. IHPN are ambitious and positive about what can be done over the next decade to improve the NHS, including by unlocking the long-term potential of independent healthcare, and giving patients greater choice. Independent providers are committed to playing their full part in the NHS to ensure patients are diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible and that the health service is truly fit for the 21st century. This includes delivering innovative, efficient services from primary to hospital care as well as standing ready to provide the long-term investment the NHS needs to build a new generation of healthcare facilities and expand the range of healthcare choices available to local communities.
