I hate to be the one to say this, but we need to talk about POLICIES. Even though the mere mention of the 'P' word might make you wish you'd stayed in bed this morning, they are CRUCIAL for running a successful business, taking care of your people, and protecting your bottom line. A business without clear, solid policies is like a game of high school dodgeball - chaotic, confusing and someone is probably going to get hit in the face 🙃 In a bid to be flexible and responsive, rules and procedures often evolve haphazardly, but these inconsistencies can be fatal, especially if you need to refer to them when making tough decisions. 📝 Why you need to avoid Policy Pandemonium 1. Lack of clear policies can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts 2. Inconsistent application of rules can result in claims of favouritism, discrimination or unfair treatment 3. It can make your business vulnerable to legal challenges and penalties 👉 How to fix it 1. Aim to develop a clear, written employee handbook outlining policies and procedures 2. Regularly review and update policies to ensure they continue to apply to your organisation 3.
