Vale a leitura... "Large corporate law firms (a/k/a “Big Law”) are on a hiring spree. They are snapping up tech-oriented talent to fill a mélange of newly-formed firm C-Suite roles. The list includes: Chief Officers of Innovation, Information, Process, AI, Data, and Value. Firms are also onboarding data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other digital experts, many of whom are recruits from other sectors..." "... Is Big Law in the early stages of a transformation journey or following the path of companies like Kodak, Sears, and Blockbuster whose dominant market position, resistance to change, and hubris resulted in disruption?"

🌟 Thrilled to Share Insights at the ACC Legal Ops Con! 🌟 Had a fantastic time discussing the future of legal operations at the recent ACC Legal Ops Con. Here's a quick recap of the sessions I participated in: Opening Plenary: The Art of the Possible: Future-focused Potential The legal tech landscape is booming! 🚀 This standing-room-only session dove into the latest AI, LLM, and cutting-edge tools available today, along with expert insights from industry innovators like Danielle Benecke (Baker McKenzie & McKenzie LLP), Peter Geovanes (McGuireWoods LLP), and Daniel Katz (273 Ventures). We explored: The current state of the use of AI across the legal ecosystem, emerging trends, and future possibilities as well as practical tools to implement in your legal department (both now and for the long term). During my session on Day 2 - Beyond the Basics: Navigating the Path to Advanced Maturity I had the privilege of re-connecting with some very talented colleagues about advancing legal operations disciplines in your organization. Key takeaways included building a roadmap to advanced maturity, leveraging technology and data analytics to your advantage and fostering a collaborative culture for innovation and growth. 💡Afterward, Laura Caponi, Elizabeth Jaworski and I opened the floor up to the audience to discuss specific use cases and questions. Thank you to those in the audience who were willing to share! A huge thank you to the Association of Corporate Counsel for inviting me to participate! 👏 If you're interested in learning more about the future of legal tech and how to take your legal operations to the next level, feel free to connect with me in the comments or reach out directly. #legaltech #futureoflaw #ACC #innovation #legaloperations Reese Arrowsmith Maria Volpe-Viles Association of Corporate Counsel

I am working on a blog post discussing the dramatic change from my first days in law school, in 2008, when wide eyed students were threatened with doc review work to the brilliant modernization of legal practice I am so lucky to be a part of in 2024. The Evisort origin story, and the opportunity they are affording to 1L students, are outstanding examples of how the very practice of law is changing.
Those of you who know the story of Evisort appreciate that we were founded by Harvard Law students in 2016 who had a vision of a legal practice centered around artificial intelligence. This is why we spent years training AI at the Harvard Innovation Labs alongside MIT data scientists, and ultimately why Jerry, Jake, Riley, and I decided to not take the Bar upon graduation but instead moved to Silicon Valley to further grow our company. Today we support contract lifecycle management and contract analytics for global organizations like Microsoft, Western Union and Workday. Because of our history, we are always keen to find opportunities to recruit law students directly into our company which, is why we started the "Evisort Legal Fellows Program" back when we had less than 30 employees. I'm excited to share the opportunity below as we are searching for 1L or 2L law students who have technical backgrounds and want to learn what it is like to work in the product organization of a cutting-edge #legaltech company. There are opportunities to extend this role over the Summer as well! Apply below before Friday February 23. #legalhiring #legalops #newlaw #legalinnovation https://lnkd.in/gbhcZYad

Hey there, legal professionals! 👋 I want to share something that’s been on my mind lately—something that’s reshaping our profession in real-time. Data. Yes, data is changing the way we practice law, and it’s not just a buzzword anymore. Whether you're in-house or at a firm, data literacy is becoming a crucial part of our toolkit. It’s not just about understanding laws and regulations anymore. It’s about interpreting the data behind them, driving decisions, and even predicting outcomes. We’re in a world where legal tech is giving us tools that can analyze contracts in seconds, track compliance risks, and even help us spot trends in litigation. But here’s the thing—those tools are only as good as we are at understanding and using the data they produce. I’ve written a new blog post about how we, as legal professionals, can embrace this shift. I dive into real, practical ways we can use data to enhance our roles, make smarter decisions, and bring more value to our organizations. This isn’t just about staying relevant; it’s about leading the charge in a data-driven world. So, if you’re ready to take your legal career to the next level, join me on this journey. Let’s unlock the power of data together. Get started by checking out my post via the link the comments below. I'm Colin, Director of Legal at Malbek, CLM for Enterprise and a legal tech educator and advocate. #legaltech #innovation #law #business #learning

Why should legal professionals learn tech? There are 2 kinds of legal professionals: 💼 Those who don’t use tech. 💼 Those who use tech to their advantage. Increasingly, surviving and thriving in the legal industry means integrating technology into every aspect of your practice. Here are 3 tips for upskilling legal professionals in technology: 1) "Teach tech" in context of practical legal problems. 2) Get buy-in from tech-interested lawyers to pitch the rest. 3) Dedicate resources to invest in tech-focused learning and development programs. Technology is not a replacement for legal knowledge and judgement. But using it can help legal professionals to do their work more efficiently, improve their processes and deliver higher value to their clients. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg so far. Get your team in now and they'll thank you later. — Found this helpful? Share it ♻️ and follow me, Nishant Bhaskar , for more insights like this! #legaltech #legalops #changemanagement

If you're implementing legal tech, listen up: Quick wins drive success. - Start with a small, defined scope and specific goals. - Aim for completion within 6 months. - Develop a "pilot" mindset, testing and fine-tuning as you go. Adoption is key. - Don't skip the planning and communication. Get people on board. - Highlight benefits not just to lawyers, but to supporting staff too. - Ongoing training and support is key to adoption. Data matters. - Measure your results and prove your ROI. - Stay on top of usage data to identify patterns and areas for improvement. - Use data to justify and expand investment toward your next phase. Remember, it's about people, not just tech. - Align your goals with the firm's overarching strategy. - Demonstrate how legal tech supports the firm's mission or vision. - Develop communication plans that keep all stakeholders aware of progress and milestones. Want to move your firm forward? Start with a small win. ~~~ Found this helpful? Share this post ♻️ and follow me, Nishant Bhaskar, for more insights like this! #legaltech #legalops #lawfirms

This shift is reshaping the roles of traditional law firm associates, who are finding themselves facing the challenge of adapting to a new reality where automation and AI-powered solutions are replacing routine tasks. The Shift: Technology vs. Traditional Roles Gone are the days when legal research meant hours spent sifting through dusty tomes in a library.
