Biofilm is a problem for many manufacturers. It is a slimy layer of cooperating microorganisms that may pose a danger to humans and animals through contaminated end products. Biofilm can form in areas where water flows regularly or is stagnant, such as pipes or water tanks. The microorganisms present in a biofilm, which can include bacteria, viruses, fungi, and yeasts, might be potential pathogens. Water flowing through pipes with biofilm can lead to contamination of products, potentially resulting in costly recalls. Regular disinfection is an effective method to mitigate biofilm buildup.
