OCTOBER 2024 Message from the President Dear ASCM Houston Members, In my last message, I shared that your ASCM Houston executive board held our first Strategic Planning meeting. I’m excited to provide an update on our goals and initiatives for the coming months. We’re focusing on two key objectives: increasing member engagement and enhancing the value and recognition of APICS certifications. While we have over 500 members, active participation is currently less than 15%. To address this, we recently sent out a voice-of-the-customer survey to better understand what you, our members, need to increase your involvement. During our planning meeting, we reviewed your feedback, and the top interests included Industry 4.0 topics, Demand Driven Planning (DDP), and regional industry activities. We are committed to meeting your needs and are already taking steps to bring you valuable content. In September, we discussed how Master Data Management (MDM) impacts emerging technologies. In October, we were thrilled to host Arjun Srinivasan and Pritam Debnath, who spoke on the application of AI in the Supply Chain. Additionally, in November, Mauy Roval will explore the effects of COVID-19 on ocean transportation, a highly relevant topic given the looming longshoreman strike that will undoubtedly affect the Texas and Louisiana ports. Register here:: https://lnkd.in/gDcUuv3B Looking ahead, we are working to bring in DDMRP experts for a session in March, and we have an exciting surprise planned for February—stay tuned! There are also other ways to get more involved. Consider joining one of our Special Interest Groups (SIGs). For example, the Women in Supply Chain (WISC) group recently held a fantastic learning event, which is open to everyone and designed to help elevate your career. In addition to SIGs, we’ll soon be launching 20-minute info sessions on topics like maintaining your certification, membership benefits, and overviews of the various certifications we support. Be sure to check out the ASCM Houston Events page (https://lnkd.in/gPJeqhMS) or subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date with all the latest happenings. Thank you for being a part of the ASCM Houston community. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and working together to achieve our goals! Jennifer Sinclair Hankerson, Sara Charezaie-Tanner, MCR (she/her), DeQuese May and Cyndi Innecken. Keynote speaker,Vik Bangia, MCR. This should be an enlightening panel session delving into the complexities of modern vendor engagement. In the Corporate Real Estate sector, which heavily relies on outsourcing, it's common for both end-users and vendors to face challenges in their partnerships. What leads to this dissatisfaction? I'm eager to listen to their experiences and perspectives.
