🌍 I thank IFC - International Finance Corporation, the The World Bank Group, for inviting me to speak at the 11th International Food Safety Forum in #Tashkent. It was very valuable to engage with local, regional, and global stakeholders, including World Health Organization, World Trade Organization, and UNICEF, to address critical global #foodsafety issues. 📋 My presentation focused on the opportunities and challenges of #Uzbekistan's agriculture and #food exports to the global market. While food safety measures are crucial for the international success of Uzbek products, there are these additional pillars that need to be developed simultaneously for sustainable overseas reach: ✅ Ensuring critical quantity of offered products ✅ Developing product-specific logistical solutions ✅ Training HR for cross-cultural trade communication 🍌 Moreover, I challenged the idea that being landlocked hinders overseas trade. The journey of Jamaican bananas to Uzbek tables stands as proof that distance is but a minor obstacle. Why shouldn’t it be possible for Uzbek products to find their way to distant lands? This thought resonated with the audience and received repeated highlights in the local media. #GlobalFoodSafety #UzbekistanExports #SustainableTrade #IFCForum #AgriFoodIndustry #IFCFoodSafety IFC Agribusiness Rishi Partners

As an ardent advocate for Angola's food security, I firmly believe that our nation's path to sustainable nourishment lies in our ability to grow and produce our own food. Dependence on imports leaves us vulnerable to global market fluctuations and geopolitical tensions, which can disrupt our food supply and inflate prices beyond the reach of ordinary Angolans. By investing in local agriculture, improving farming techniques, and supporting our farmers, we can create a resilient food system that ensures every Angolan has access to nutritious, affordable food. And that’s why it was so important for me to connect the buyer to the seller, so that agriculture businesses could focus on growth! Self-sufficiency in food production not only bolsters our economy but also strengthens our sovereignty and enhances our national pride. -Ivan Morais #FoodSecurity #Angola #Sustainability #LocalAgriculture #SelfSufficiency #SupportFarmers #EconomicGrowth #NationalPride #Meumerkado #Ivanmorais

Gabon is seeking to reduce its dependence on food imports by leveraging Uganda's experience in agricultural development, aiming to improve its agricultural sector and achieve food self-sufficiency. On August 1, 2024, Gabon’s Transitional President, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Their goal? Strengthening ties in agriculture and trade to tackle Gabon's food challenges. Gabon relies heavily on costly food imports, which isn't sustainable. To change this, the country plans to boost its local agriculture and reduce dependence on external food sources. This move aims for a more self-sufficient and secure food system. Uganda has become a model for agricultural success in Africa. By improving food security and reducing import reliance, Uganda offers a roadmap Gabon wants to follow. The collaboration is about learning proven strategies to strengthen Gabon's agriculture. Gabon aims to learn from Uganda to increase local food production, enhance sustainability, and open up economic opportunities. The ultimate goal is to achieve food self-sufficiency and improve the lives of its citizens. Gabon will adopt Uganda's successful agricultural practices, such as modern farming techniques and crop diversification. The partnership will focus on sharing knowledge, building skills, and investing in Gabon's agricultural infrastructure. Gabon’s collaboration with Uganda is a step toward food security and resilience. What do you think about this approach? Share your thoughts in the comments! Stay tuned for more updates on agriculture and nutrition. What are your thoughts on this? Comment below. - #FoodSelfSufficiency - #SustainableDevelopment - #AgriculturalDevelopment
