While most people are announcing new roles, here I am announcing I was laid off in December after nearly 12 years. I’ve put off writing this post because, quite frankly, I was embarrassed, humbled, and scared to let go of an identity I’ve worked so hard to build. Who am I without my job? It’s a strange, unsettling feeling. For over a decade, my role, my team, and the work I poured myself into every day became a huge part of who I was. And now, suddenly, it’s gone. If I’m honest, it’s scary. I’ve spent so much time building, leading, and driving success that stepping into the unknown feels like uncharted territory. It’s hard not to wonder, What’s next? or What could I have done differently? But I know I’m not alone. Layoffs are a reality many of us face, and while it’s tough, I’m starting to see this as an opportunity to reset, rediscover my voice, and figure out what truly brings me joy. I’ll likely reflect on things I put up with for too long, and there will certainly be aspects I’ll miss. Am I ready? No, not really. But am I excited? Surprisingly, yes. I’m learning to embrace this gray area—uncertain, imperfect, but full of possibility—and trying to find purpose in the in-between. To my network: I’m putting myself out there. If you know of roles in marketing, communications, partnerships, or brand strategy—or if you’ve navigated a similar experience and have advice—I’d love to connect. I held out as long as I could and just wanted to do it on my own. But I had no idea it would take this long to find a new opportunity. After many applications went unanswered, today I am officially announcing that I’m "Open to Work." As much as I would like to not make this post and do this on my own, I know when I need to fall back on my friends, family, and network for support after trying to do this solo. Anyone currently looking for work knows that this is the most competitive job market we’ve seen since our careers have started. As someone who has been with his previous company for almost 7 years, the recruiting game has changed quite a bit with these turbulent lay offs in tech. I'm hoping that the time and energy I've put into both my career and relationships will pay off as I enter into this open phase of my job search. Over the last 10+ years in sales specifically post-sales relationship management, l helped grow and advise many clients through business and digital marketing related needs and challenges, helped pioneer vertical expansions as well as testing internal and external features and products as an original member of an advanced CSM team, teamed up with cross-functional teams to advocate for user-needs on enhancement and experience, and most recently helping Poynt get their CSM operation off the ground by fleshing out supporting documentation, building onboarding practices for desired outcomes. I'm known for being client-centric, strategic, an out-of-the-box thinker, and use data and other insights to guide my decisions and have worked in both start-up environments and publicly traded companies. I'm looking for remote opportunities in the tech space but am open to both hybrid and office options. I am also willing to relocate for the right opportunity.
