ASEAN, the art of uniting the cultural differences Each of ASEAN countries has their own characteristics. The way of life, their traditional cuisines, languages and how they celebrate the huge moments are really different due to their cultural roots and region. It is caused by the diversity of geographical conditions which lead them to some behavior which fits their regional conditions to survive their life-span well. There are so many traditional cuisines in ASEAN that are created by the suitable ingredients based on their location. For instance, the richness of spices in Indonesia has been becoming the reason for one of its specialty foods, rendang. But then, there are some common similarities between the differences revealed, most ASEAN people eat rice as their staple food. It seems that ASEAN has their unique thing that comes to describe our unity of ASEAN. The fostering of cultural diversity has shown by the founding of ASEAN organization which consists of Southeast countries where the aims and purposes were about cooperation in the economic, social, cultural, technical, educational, and other fields. It definitely defines the strength of the sense of community among countries to know each other well. Art exhibitions, conferences, and other valuable events held by ASEAN have become the evident of those missions of ASEAN organization. Let's exchange our culture and know more about other cultures in ASEAN by participating in some exchange events and supporting the ASEAN organizations for the best solidarity in the differences of the southeast region. I'm proud to witness the groundbreaking of the Kerian Integrated Green Technology Park (KIGIP) in Perak. This iconic project represents Malaysia's commitment to innovation and sustainable development, aligning perfectly with our national goals of becoming a global leader in green and smart technologies. KIGIP is not just another industrial park; it’s the first of its kind in Malaysia, built on the concept of a ‘green and smart industrial park.’ With its strategic location, KIGIP is poised to attract high-tech investments, including logistics data centers and knowledge-based industries, further reinforcing our position as a preferred global investment destination. This project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between the public and private sectors. I'm especially proud that bumiputra companies are at the helm of this initiative, showcasing their capabilities on a national stage. As we progress, it’s vital that the people of Kerian, and particularly those from the northern region, are not left behind. Their involvement and empowerment are critical to the success of this endeavor. Through the continued efforts of MOSTI, in collaboration with other ministries and agencies, we will ensure that KIGIP serves as a model for future industrial and green technology hubs across the region. Let us continue to push forward, embracing the changes necessary to secure Malaysia's future as a developed, respected, and sustainable nation. As we embark on this significant journey, I must acknowledge the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. His unwavering commitment to fostering a stable and transparent political environment, coupled with business-friendly policies, has been instrumental in attracting global tech giants like Google, Nvidia, and Infineon Technologies to Malaysia. The Prime Minister’s dedication to the Digital Transformation initiative, the New Industrial Master Plan, and the Madani Economy Framework has laid the foundation for projects like KIGIP to thrive. #MalaysiaMADANI

On my way to Vietnam, a brief stop-over in Kuala Lumpur. Somehow, the city's rapid developments never bores. Maybe best epitomized by the latest development, the Merdeka 118 tower. For those who have seen the movie 'skywalkers' (worth the time, I think), the Merdeka stands at nearly 680 meters tall. Yes, an architectural marvel and Malaysia's new icon but also a symbol of its economic ambition. For over two decades, Larive International has been operating in Malaysia through our local partner, H2O Capital. Have solid 'feet on the ground' allows us to provide comprehensive support in business intelligence, market entry, and post-entry services. Malaysia's pro-business policies, strategic location, and robust infrastructure continue to attract international businesses. As the country advances, exemplified by projects like Merdeka 118, the business landscape presents both new opportunities and challenges. Austria topped the list of foreign investors in Malaysia for the first quarter of 2024, with the Netherlands being the third-largest foreign investor in Malaysia. Malaysia offers European investors a strategic gateway to Southeast Asian markets, boasting a stable economy, favorable business environment, and skilled workforce, all supported by well-developed infrastructure and liberal investment policies. By leveraging local market understanding, investors can better position themselves to capitalize on Malaysia's unique business environment and cultural landscape, ultimately increasing their chances of success in the Malaysian market. #Malaysia #emergingmarkets #localexpertise #H20 #Yit Jin Tham

Such an honor to share the recent insights from Kearney Global Business Policy Council Global City Index study on Jakarta's position among global cities with Pak Pj Governor Heru Budi Hartono and other Jakarta city provincial leaders. The Global City Index measures how globally engaged cities are across five dimensions; business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience and political engagement. With the movement of Indonesia's capital city to IKN, as a part of its new stated ambition, Jakarta aspires to become a global city and Indonesia's leading commercial center. This is very timely momentum as Jakarta has a critical role to play, already contributing between 16-17% of Indonesia's GDP. With Indonesia's vision to become top 5 global economy by 2045, maintaining and accelerating the economic growth in Jakarta is very crucial. Over the past few years, Jakarta has transformed itself from adding public infrastructures such as MRT, LRT; made progress in making the city greener and resolving some of its flooding issue; reducing poverty, while also improving cultural experience for its citizens through hosting international sporting events, performing arts and concerts. Jakarta is currently ranked no. 74 out of 156 global cities in Kearney's Global City Index and has significant opportunities to unlock its potential especially in the areas of Human Capital, Information Exchange and Cultural Experience. Success for Jakarta means Success for Indonesia and better future for our next generations.
