𝗞𝗶𝗰𝗸-𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗪𝗶𝗧𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘁 #BauhausLuftfahrt! Embarking on a new journey is always special, and this LuFo-funded project is no exception. 𝗗𝗪𝗶𝗧𝗘 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 “𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”, and this project is dedicated to identifying and analyzing synergetic technologies for commercial aircraft wings 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 as well as optimizing these novel wings on aircraft level. 💪 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁? Because dry wings are a key technology for hydrogen aviation due to their novelty and potential to mitigate the expected increased energy demand when compared to aircraft powered by drop-in sustainable aviation fuels.    🤝 Our colleagues Alexandros Lessis, Fabian Peter, Nils Roth, and Michael Lüdemann, who is leading the project, are looking forward to the joint research work with Jan Knop from Technische Universität Hamburg, Paul Mauerer and Lukas Neuerburg from RWTH Aachen University, and Fanglin Yu from Technische Universität München.  A big 🙏 to the participants of the first workshop for defining work packages and the next steps! Quickstep Group is excited to share significant progress in developing advanced hydrogen storage solutions for UAS. Leveraging insights from our first prototype tests, we’ve enhanced and optimized the design of our Type V Tank. The second prototype is now complete and undergoing comprehensive testing and characterisation. We sincerely thank our partners at UNSW and TRaCE for their collaboration in reaching this milestone. This next phase of rigorous testing and verification will focus on advancing its application for clean aviation. This project has been assisted by the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust. V., #TUBraunschweig Science & Art Lab is showing the documentary film 'Grünes Fliegen' (Green Flying) on Wednesday, 13 November at 18:00 h in the Roter Saal in #Braunschweig. 🗣 Pioneers and engineers of climate-friendly aviation, as well as activists and critics, will have their say. 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 New advances in hydrogen aviation by researchers at Chalmers University of Technology are rapidly paving the way for fossil-free air travel. Studies indicate that 2045 hydrogen-powered aircraft could cover nearly all air travel within a 750-mile radius, with further range extensions possible through the development of innovative heat exchangers. These advancements promise significant carbon emissions and fuel consumption reductions, moving toward a sustainable aviation future. The collaborative efforts between governments, academia, and industry are essential for overcoming challenges related to infrastructure and investment, with the potential for hydrogen to power 30-40% of global aviation by 2050.
