It's World Bee Day,,,,, We need to act now!! Theme: "BEE ENGAGED WITH YOUTHS" Bees are under threat. species elimination rates are 100 to multiple times higher than ordinary because of human effects. Close to 35% of invertebrate pollinators, especially honey bees and butterflies, and around 17% of vertebrate pollinators, for example bats, faces global extinction. On the off chance that this pattern proceeds, nutritious yields, for example, natural products, nuts and numerous vegetable harvests will be subbed progressively by staple harvests like rice, corn and potatoes, in the long run bringing about an imbalanced eating routine. Intensive farming practices, land-use change, mono-cropping, pesticides and higher temperatures associated with climate change all pose problems for bee populations and, by extension, the quality of food we grow. let's conserve our ecosystem by: 1-Planting a diverse set of native plants, which flower at different times of the year. 2-Buying products from sustainable agricultural practices. 3-Avoiding pesticides, fungicides or herbicides in our gardens. 4-Protecting wild bee colonies when possible. 5-sponsoring a hive. 6-Making a bee water fountain by leaving a water bowl outside. 6-Helping sustaining forest ecosystems. 7-Reducing, or changing the usage of pesticides. 8-Diversifying crops as much as possible, and/or planting attractive crops around the field. 9-Strengthening the participation of local communities in decision-making, in particular that of indigenous people, who know and respect ecosystems and biodiversity. 10-Enforcing strategic measures, including monetary incentives to help change. #worldBeeDay #nature #Naturescare #bioconservation #forestconservation #FAO #IFAD #UNDP

["Bee Kind”!! ] World without bees🐝? The devastating consequences. Bees are often called as the "unsung heroes" of our ecosystems, playing a crucial role in pollinating over 75% of the world's flowering plants and crops. But what would happen if we lost these invaluable pollinators? The absence of bees would devastate global agriculture as many fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds rely on bee pollination. This would threaten our food security and dramatically increase food prices. In fact, it's estimated that bees contribute over $200 billion annually to crop production worldwide. The impact would also ripple through entire ecosystems. This delicate balance of nature would be disrupted, as without bees to pollinate native plants, we may face the plight of #BiodiversityLoss. Other species that depend on those plants for food and shelter would struggle to survive as well. In addition, the implications for human health would be profound too. Bees pollinate many plants that provide us with essential nutrients, vitamins, and natural medicines - their absence would limit the availability of our vital resources. The good news is, there are #BeeKindInitiatives we can do, such as reducing pesticide use, creating bee-friendly habitats, and promoting sustainable agriculture. After all, a world without bees is a world we cannot afford. It is time we all “Bee Kind! #BeesAreEssential #SustainableAgriculture #FutureOfOurPlanet #BeeConservation #BeeKind #VairSustainabilityEducation

It's #WorldBeeDay 🐝, celebrating the role of 20,000+ bee species alongside other pollinators in maintaining agricultural production, food security, ecosystems restoration and plant health. Close to 75% of the world’s major crops benefit from pollinators such as bees, birds and bats. Pollinators are essential for fruit, vegetable, oilseed and forage production, as well as for the production of seed for many root and fibre crops. In addition to being essential to food security and quality, pollinators contribute to the production of medicines, biofuels (e.g. canola and palm oil), fibres (e.g. cotton and linen). The large importance of pollinators, for both wild and cultivated plants, means they are fundamental to maintain ecosystem services and uphold global biodiversity. However, pollinators are in decline in almost all parts of the world, pesticide use is considered to be among the top-3 drivers, together with habitat loss and fragmentation, and environmental pollution. #SaveTheBees

Hap-bee World Bee Day! 🐝💛 Without bees 3 out of 4 food crops may yield substandard produce, or worse, none at all! In the UK alone, the number of beehives has declined by nearly 75% in the last 100 years 😱 So what can we do to help protect our fuzzy farmers? The biggest way to help bees is to plant a range of flowers, including nectar-rich ones which give them energy in the spring. Let them grow freely to give bees protection and a place to build their nests so they can continue to thrive 💪 If you don’t have space, insect hotels (https://lnkd.in/eBPaPBcJ) are great shelters for bees and other insects, which is important for our natural biodiversity 🐞🐝🐜🕷️ If you see a tired bee out and about, help them out with a 2:1 mix of white granulated sugar and water on a plate or on a flower to give them a boost of energy – they’re likely just having a rest, so leave them bee once hydrated! 💧😴 Lastly, where possible, try to buy local honey from individual beekeepers who practice sustainability 🌍🌱 Harmful chemicals are frequently used in agriculture to eliminate pesticides, but bees can pick these up and hurt their hive population – and these can even make it into our honey! 🍯 Shop small and keep honey as a special treat so we can protect these amazing little creatures and build a more sustainable future 💚🐝💛 #WorldBeeDay #SaveTheBees #WildlifeConservation

🐝 A bee’s sense of smell is 50 times more powerful than a dog. They also fly about 20 mph. But the most important fact about bees is that we depend on them for our survival. ‘The goal of bee day is to strengthen measures aimed at protecting bees and other pollinators, which would significantly contribute to solving problems related to the global food supply and eliminate hunger in developing countries. We all depend on pollinators and it is, therefore, crucial to monitor their decline and halt the loss of biodiversity.’ 🍯 What can you do to help? 🍯 💛 Plant a diverse set of indigenous plants, which flower at different times of the year 💛 Buy raw honey from local farmers 💛 Buy food from sustainable agricultural practices 💛 Don’t use pesticides, fungicides or herbicides 💛 Protect wild bee colonies 💛 Sponsor a hive 💛 Make a bee water fountain by leaving a water bowl outside 🐝 🐝 RAISE AWARENESS around us by sharing this information within our communities and networks, the decline of bees affects us all!🐝 🐝 https://lnkd.in/drQ5EWNU #BeeDay #Pollinators #Biodiversity

Bees carry entire ecosystems on their small shoulders, pollinating diverse plant life and crops essential for our food supply. They play a crucial role in both agriculture and horticulture, ensuring the growth of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we rely on. However, they are vanishing rapidly due to climate change, habitat loss, and particularly the use of neonicotinoid pesticides (neonics). Neonics attack bees brains and cause permanent, irreversible damage. It makes everything a little harder for bees pollinating, reproducing, communicating by dance, even finding their way back home and to make matters worse, the damage is felt across generations of bees, contributing to their dramatic decline. To mitigate this, am sharing 5 key points for safer pesticide use: 👉Avoid Spraying Blooming Flowers: Bees are attracted to all types of blooms. If the bloom needs to be sprayed, apply the pesticides in the evening hours. 👉Opt for Less Toxic Pesticides: Choose pesticides that degrade rapidly to reduce bee mortality. Many newer pesticides have a shorter residual time, making them safer for bees. 👉 Read and Follow Instructions: Always read the label and follow the instructions carefully before applying any chemicals. 👉Create Bee-friendly Habitats:Plant bee-friendly flowers and provide water sources to support bee populations. 👉Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Implement IPM practices that combine biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools to minimize the impact on bees. Today is World Bee Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the crucial role bees play in our ecosystem and what we can do to protect them. Whenever possible, whenever you are in a field visit or meet farmers guide them about the safer use of pesticides to protect our invaluable bee population. Together, we can make a difference 😊 #WorldBeeDay #May20 #Bees #pollinators #ecosystem #awareness

The Buzz About Our Tiny Heroes on World Bee Day World bee day established by the United Nations in 2017, is held on 20th May every year. This day raises awareness about the importance of bees and the threats they face and is a time to recognise and appreciate the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. The Importance of Bees Bees are more than just honey producers; they are crucial pollinators. Nearly 75% of the world’s crops depend on pollinators like bees, which means they are directly responsible for the food we eat. From fruits and vegetables to coffee and nuts, our diets would be drastically different—and much less nutritious—without these industrious insects. Threats to Bee Populations Despite their importance, bee populations are declining at alarming rates. Pesticides, habitat loss, climate change, and diseases are significant threats. These factors not only endanger bees but also the global food supply and biodiversity. How We Can Help Supporting bees can be as simple as planting a bee-friendly garden with a variety of native flowers that bloom at different times of the year. Reducing the use of pesticides, supporting organic farming, and advocating for policies that protect pollinators are also crucial steps. Even small actions, like setting up bee baths, or leaving bare land for ground nesting bees, can make a big difference. A Day to Reflect and Act World Bee Day is not just about celebrating bees but also about taking concrete steps to protect them. By understanding their importance and the challenges they face, we can contribute to a future where bees continue to thrive and support our ecosystems. Let’s use this day to spread the buzz about bees and ensure these tiny heroes get the recognition and protection they deserve. #WorldBeeDay #bees #pollinators #pollinating

World Bee Day is a vital reminder of the indispensable role bees play in our ecosystems and economies. By understanding their importance and the challenges they face, we can take informed actions to protect these pollinators and ensure a sustainable future for both bees and humans. Bees are vital pollinators, responsible for the fertilization of many plants, leading to the production of fruits, seeds, and other essential crops. Approximately 75% of the world's food crops rely at least in part on pollination. Threats to Bee Populations Despite their importance, bee populations are declining worldwide due to several factors: 🐝Habitat Loss: Urbanization, deforestation, and agricultural expansion reduce the availability of natural habitats. 🐝Pesticides: Exposure to harmful chemicals, particularly neonicotinoids, can be lethal to bees or impair their ability to forage and reproduce. 🐝Climate Change: Shifts in climate patterns affect flowering times and the availability of forage plants, disrupting the synchronized relationship between bees and plants. 🐝Diseases and Parasites: Pathogens like the Varroa destructor mite and various viruses pose significant threats to bee health. Actions to Protect Bees To support and protect bee populations, several measures can be taken: 🐝Promote Sustainable Farming: Encouraging organic farming practices and reducing pesticide use can create safer environments for bees. 🐝Create Habitats: Planting bee-friendly gardens and maintaining wildflower meadows provide forage and nesting sites. 🐝Support Local Beekeepers: Purchasing honey and other bee products from local, sustainable sources helps maintain healthy bee populations. 🐝Raise Awareness: Educating the public about the importance of bees and how to protect them can drive community-led conservation efforts. #WorldBeeDay #SaveTheBees #Pollinators #Biodiversity #EcosystemHealth #SustainableAgriculture

Cool to see the data from these data loggers I used to sell being put to good use for a great cause. We need pollinators! I used to use my BioSci degree to understand what data my customers were trying to collect and more importantly what questions their study was answering it in order to make sure they purchases the correct tool for their study. Often sales involved making sure the customers had designed their experiments in such a way that they were going to be collecting the data that answered their broader questions, before getting into the details of these devices. Switching to #Business_Intelligence is fun because I am directly working with data and answering the stakeholders questions. Similar #analytical skills are involved in thinking about the questions stakeholders are asking and the business reasons why they are asking them.
