Blessings friends! In my personal practice, I've been thinking a lot about gift awareness, and it's importance in community development. Gift awareness is the starting point of gift economics. It is a recognition of our indebtedness to others (fellow humans, animals, plants, cosmic forces). I wrote a letter to my readers on The Sufi Gardener and I would like to share it with you all. One of the things elderly people struggle with is loneliness and lack of social engagement. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to leave their home due to illness, inability to drive, and lack of transportation options. In 2024 StreetBoxPHL partnered with the Design Advocacy Group to champion ROW Reform Opportunities.  We worked with the Community Design Collaborative to help community across Philly design safe, and equitable spaces.  Our ROW Roundtables engaged over 350 stewards, teaching them about paving, funding, and place making. Help us build more capacity to create meaningful change in the most public of public realms.
