Are you thinking about launching a community? Don't overthink! As humans, we have community in our blood. We're "social creatures". And yet, we often get lost in irrelevant details when starting a new community. And ignore important pieces. We've built three communities from scratch. And from what we have learned, these are the important pieces. 👇 What else should we add here? 🤔 ___________ Now, if you've turned your community on all sides and things are not quite right yet, it's okay to ask for help. 💛 The last "Building Community from within NOcourse" this year has opened registration, and if you are building internal communities within your organization, you might be one of the 10 people to embark on a 12-week-long learning journey: https://lnkd.in/e6fuGw6F Maybe we get to learn together. 💛 #buildingcommunityfromwithin #nocourse #communitybuilding #communityofpractice #ERG #community #learningcommunity

Blessings friends! In my personal practice, I've been thinking a lot about gift awareness, and it's importance in community development. Gift awareness is the starting point of gift economics. It is a recognition of our indebtedness to others (fellow humans, animals, plants, cosmic forces). I wrote a letter to my readers on The Sufi Gardener and I would like to share it with you all. It is a call to cultivate gift awareness in all that we do: careers, crafts, vocations, volunteering, education, etc. You can read my letter here: https://lnkd.in/emTcwjJ9

One of the things elderly people struggle with is loneliness and lack of social engagement. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to leave their home due to illness, inability to drive, and lack of transportation options. Programs like these can be a wonderful way to invest in the lives of our senior citizens. #NCIwisconsin #Neuropsychology #Kenosha #seniorcitizens
Can you help? We consistently find word of mouth is the most effective way to spread the word about our program. We currently have 7 seniors in our community who are waiting for a weekly visit from a new friend. Please consider volunteering-we only ask for one hour per week of you time! If you cannot volunteer at this time, please help us out by telling your family, friends, co-workers, church family, and all in your circle about us-we would truly appreciate it. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/gh_Wak2N

In 2024 StreetBoxPHL partnered with the Design Advocacy Group to champion ROW Reform Opportunities. We worked with the Community Design Collaborative to help community across Philly design safe, and equitable spaces. Our ROW Roundtables engaged over 350 stewards, teaching them about paving, funding, and place making. Help us build more capacity to create meaningful change in the most public of public realms. On this Giving Tuesday, don't forget to help grow the tools available to transform our streets. https://lnkd.in/ektUNYUd
