Dear Colleagues, I wanted to share with you a recent publication in the American Journal of Case Reports that highlights an extremely rare case of empyema caused by Actinomyces naeslundii (A. naeslundii). The patient presented with fever and dyspnea, leading to a diagnosis of left thoracic empyema. Through visual examination and anaerobic culture, A. naeslundii was identified, emphasizing the importance of diagnostic techniques. The case also underscores the significance of long-term antibiotic therapy in treating Actinomyces empyema. This report expands our understanding of this rare condition and provides valuable insights for clinical practice. The complete report is now available on the American Journal of Case Reports webpage. | https://lnkd.in/dAHfezNY

Of all the laboratory tests in #Hemostasis, #Lupus Continues to remain the connecting link between basic tests and specialized assays. At the same time, this is one of the test parameters that is significantly affected by all three - pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical variables Please join us as we discuss the Best practices and clinical troubleshooting in Lupus (LA) Testing in our 22nd Session of #ILluminationSeries Link to register- https://lnkd.in/gv45SQGB #SpecializedDiagnosis #PoweringPatientCare Dr Ajay Gandhi Bharat Sharma

In an era of ever-increasing rates of antifungal resistance, with C. auris posing a particular threat, new antifungal agents in the armamentarium are much needed. Ibrexafungerp is one of the new antifungals that has been found to be promising beyond its current role for vulvovaginal candidiasis including recurrent cases, all while being orally administered with excellent bioavailability. In this review article, we delve into this interesting antifungal agent's mechanism of action, pharmacokinetic/dynamic properties, and review the results of trials performed so far, as well as real-world data. https://lnkd.in/gux_VEbh

Diagnosing #MantleCellLymphoma can be challenging due to the variety of morphologic variants. Cases are typically diagnosed with diffuse cyclin D1 positivity by IHC or FISH for t(11;14). Rare cases that are negative for cyclin D1 for t(11;14) are positive for SOX11 by IHC.
