Contact Organics Pty Ltd Receives Unconditional US EPA Approval for its Bio-herbicide! We are thrilled to announce that Contact Organics, a #STARTAgriTech Cohort II Graduate, has made history as the first Australian company to receive US #EPA approval for a #BioHerbicide. This milestone follows the startup’s recent organic certification in Australia, paving the way for full regulatory approval in the Land Down Under by the end of the year. In a market dominated by glyphosate-based herbicides with known cancer-causing properties, Contact Organics introduces Firehawk—an effective, non-toxic alternative. Validated by leading US universities, this revolutionary bio-herbicide offers a #sustainable solution eagerly anticipated by customers. By enhancing soil quality, promoting #biodiversity, and protecting human health, #Firehawk is set to transform the weed control market. 💧 Safeguarding Our Potable Water 🌍 Pharmaceutical residues, such as #diclofenac, are increasingly being detected in water sources. Diclofenac, a commonly used painkiller, is known to harm aquatic ecosystems and has been found in concentrations that exceed safe limits. This raises serious concerns about the long-term safety of our drinking water. At Auqvian, we’re proud to contribute to the solution with #AtmosphericWaterGeneration (#AWG). AWG provides a decentralized and sustainable way to extract clean, potable water directly from the air, bypassing contamination risks associated with traditional water systems. It’s an innovative approach to ensuring safe drinking water in an era of growing environmental challenges. This issue underscores the importance of the work being carried out by individuals such as Christina Nordensten, organisations like Svenskt Vatten and Livsmedelsverket all of whom are working incessantly at improving water resilience in Sweden. #WaterSecurity #AWG #PotableWater #Sustainability #Innovation #EnvironmentalHealth

https://lnkd.in/gw-Tc_fG The lack of whole of lifecycle regulation, leads to the environment copping the pollutant load, whilst the pharmaceutical companies make off with the profits. In Australia, the polluter does not pay, the public and environment pay. Many waterwater treatment plants do not completely remove pharmaceuticals, so the environment cops it via effluent release and then also via placing wastewater sludge (biosolids) onto agricultural land, we smear contamination everywhere. It has consequences that are inconsistent with this civilisation having a future.

Forum for the Future of Agriculture - discussing importance of #nature value also for banks as underlined by European Investment Bank (EIB) & more generally restoring the opportunity for #food system transformation- Resilient #agriculture is 🔑 includ. #biocontrol solutions use. We need quicker access to the market ➡️ for #farmers 👩🏻🌾🧑🌾 - #StrategicDialogue
We need policies that accelerate the uptake of biocontrol in Europe. Currently, farmers must wait up to 10 years for new biocontrol solutions to be approved and available for use - in contrast to the US and Brazil, where farmers wait just 2-3 years. IBMA Global calls on the next political leadership of the European Commission to ensure fast access to #biocontrol solutions while ensuring safety for #farmers, consumers and the #environment by providing for an EU wide definition of biocontrol and: 🌱 Targeted changes to Regulation No 1107/2009 to grant faster market access to biocontrol products 🐞 Dedicated legislation for biocontrol 👩🏼🌾 A new legislative package providing farmers with a comprehensive toolbox including alternatives such as biocontrol The future is biocontrol - let’s help farmers get there. It is a matter not only on banning products, which means stop using high environmental Impacting products, but giving the agriculture the chance of having new tools for a better production. It is needed an evolution in the policies, not only restricting but opening the door for new technologies.

ARE YOU A BIO SCALEUP? Then read on - we've got great news for you. DI Bio is commited to accelerate your time-to-market for new, innovative biosolutions. To this effect, we are working closely with Danish and European authorities to ease your market access. Luckily, the Danish Environmental Agency (Miljøstyrelsen) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have both just opened calls, which can make your life significant easier, if you work either with biocontrols or novel foods. The authorities are listening and indeed willing to improve the regulatory framework for biosolutions - so let's keep up the steam and showcase, what the biosolutions sector can deliver of amazing solutions. 🌱 CALL ON BIOLOGICAL PESTICIDES EFSA has launched a "Call for Expressions of Interest", targeting Novel Food SME applicants. This initiative is designed to raise awareness and facilitate Novel Food SMEs' access to the general pre-submission advice (GPSA) service, offering a comprehensive support that addresses the specific needs of SMEs. SMEs can submit their expressions of interest by 31 October 2024 the latest: https://lnkd.in/dFtTr9u3 🍄 CALL ON NOVEL FOODS SMEs are advised to apply for financial support to apply for approval of new, biological plant protection products. The call is in Danish and will close on 13 September 2024. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dMjjJpZn #dkpol #dkgreen #biosolutions #dkbio

🆕 The National Forum Series continues TODAY at 1 PM EST! Join us for a keynote by Tracey Woodruff, PhD, director of the UCSF Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment, followed by an inspiring roundtable of panelists moderated by Jay Feldman, executive director of BEYOND PESTICIDES! Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) ALIANZA NACIONAL DE CAMPESINAS INC With endocrine-disrupting synthetic chemicals, derived from fossil fuels, as the keynote focus, this discussion brings together strategic thinking that supports efforts to transition away from petrochemicals—from a range of perspectives and a broadening of coalition efforts! 📆 Register: https://ow.ly/y2x650U758q With revelations reported last month by Investigate Midwest and previously by The Guardian showing that Syngenta, the manufacturer and registrant of paraquat, kept secret scientific information on the weed killer’s adverse effects related to Parkinson’s disease, there is increasing concern that endocrine-disrupting properties have not been fully disclosed. https://ow.ly/OyQz50U758r The common denominator to this chemical pollution is the oil and gas necessary for the production of toxic chemicals to which we are exposed daily—pesticides (such as neonicotinoids, pyrethroids, and glyphosate formulants), synthetic fertilizers, plastics, PFAS, and more. Meanwhile, alternative practices and products have emerged as sustainable alternatives, calling for a cross-collaborative effort worldwide to end their use! As we move forward with the steps that can and must be taken in our communities around the globe, join us for an eye-opening discussion that breaks down silos! #endocrinedisruption #fossilfuels #coalitions #ourfuture 📆 Register: https://ow.ly/y2x650U758q
