Can you talk to us about specific strategies for making eLearning content more inclusive and accessible? I think the first point to make here, is that where we're creating new courses, it's really important from the outset for everyone to agree that making the course accessible and inclusive is one of the key considerations, because it's much easier to do this... to plan for it from the outset, rather than to try to adapt courses retrospectively. Because if you late in the day, we didn't really take into account making this inclusive, making it accessible, it can be really costly and time consuming to go back and to make those changes, as it could mean a sort of fundamentally different approach. So I think that's the key thing to bear in mind. Much easier to do this from the outset. - And moving on, we're heading in the direction of translation now, could you say a few words about cultural sensitivity in terms of making eLearning accessible and inclusive culturally? - Absolutely. So again, it's really important to to bear this in mind from the outset and to think very carefully about, for instance, references to alcohol, the way that, if you've got illustrations or photos, which mostly learning courses are going to have, ensuring the way that people are dressed in those images is not going to cause offense to particular cohorts, if you like. So there's all of that kind of thing. The language used as well. At a basic level, if a significant proportion of your users don't have English as a foreign language, then knowing that from the outset and adapting the language, even before we get onto the subject of translation, adapting the language used, keeping the level... Well, thinking about reducing the amount of idiomatic language used, that may not be familiar to peoiple, that's clearly a consideration. - Right. Well, that really nicely segues into the role of translation in inclusive eLearning. Could we now look at how translation can contribute to making eLearning content more inclusive? Obviously I've got a couple of things to say here, but could you kick off on that topic? - Yeah, sure. I mean you and I have talked about this a lot before and clearly have have similar views on this. I find it really interesting that in my sector, in the eLearning sector, it's curious to me how little attention seems to be paid to the value of translation and multilingual eLearning. And we're, as a company, working with you, kind of on a mission with this. I feel it's, it's super important. So, there are two ways of looking at this or two audiences if you like. One is looking at eLearning courses, bespoke eLearning courses that we're creating for clients within the UK market who don't necessarily have customers outside the UK, but who have significant numbers of employees who don't have English as a first language. - Yep, absolutely. Where there's a clear benefit, and we know this from experience, there's a clear benefit to considering translating those courses into community languages. So that's one way of looking at this, and that's still all about accessibility and inclusion. It's another type of inclusion. - Sorry to cut in, but it just occurs to me, because as you know this is what we're all about, and I was just going to add upskilling multinational workforces, core safety training, these are really, really important activities within larger UK organisations, aren't they? - Yeah, absolutely. - And then of course, the other side is increasing global reach and the inclusiveness of multinational organisations in new markets. - I think there's a tendency in the UK to, I'm kind of exaggerating for effect here, but to assume that everyone across the world speaks English, and it's just a case of speaking louder and more slowly. But of course, that that isn't the case. It isn't the case that everyone speaks English. And even if people do speak English, there's also that point about showing the willingness to accommodate. your partners and your clients in other countries, rather than making them come to you, from a linguistic point of view, making a step towards them.
