Growing family but not enough space? Our lower terrace clients added more space without adding a square foot. Our client's goal was to create a second bedroom, but they were conscious of the fact that we they didn’t have a lot of space and didn’t want to block off light. The house almost had two living rooms. When you walked in there was a tiny area that fed you into the first of two living rooms and it made a lot of sense to convert the front living room into their daughter’s bedroom. 👀 Sneak peek of before and after. 📝 Note the space saving solution of the pocket doors. Imagine living in this stunning residential tower! This architectural render showcases a modern high-rise apartment building with floor-to-ceiling windows and a sleek design. Large windows are a great way to bring natural light into a space, which can have many benefits for residents. Natural light has been shown to improve mood, boost productivity, and even help regulate sleep cycles. Design projects like this one allow architects and developers to visualize a building before it is constructed. This can help to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the community and creates a livable and functional space. What are your thoughts on this design? Would you live in a high-rise apartment building? #architecture #design #rendering #residential #apartment #highrise #cityliving #windows #naturallight #benefitsofdesign #interiordesign #exteriordesign #futureofdesign

The key to great apartment design? Closets! Walk-in closets, storage closets, coat closets, pantry closets - all in one apartment. It's amazing how much these small details can make a huge difference in the functionality and overall feel of a space. That's why I love working with the team PDI Architecture. They understand the importance of the little things, like closets, that can elevate a project from good to great. #architecture #design #closets #functionality #details Pat Iannelli Sheldon Lovelace

Eichlers and Quilt are a match made in design heaven. Mid-century modern spaces have a timeless appeal, but their heating and (lack of) cooling systems often require complete overhauls. These beautiful layouts often boast open floor plans, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and no basement or attic in sight. Because of these unique elements, not just any old HVAC system will do. Mini-split systems offer “the flexibility to be able to work in different spaces and different temperatures," says John Klopf, licensed architect and founding principal of Klopf Architecture. "Especially with an older home that hasn't been renovated, you'll have a situation where the west side of the room heats up fast, where the east side does not. If you can adjust [just one of those rooms], it's more targeted, more efficient, easier to use." Find out more about why mini-split systems like Quilt are the perfect upgrade for Eichler homes: https://lnkd.in/gJuN-HTD

Is considering an extension for 2024 on your mind? Don't underestimate the capacity of even the tiniest additions to transform your space hugely. Here are some suggestions to maximise a smaller extension: Convert a garage Just keep parking in mind if you’re hoping to sell at some point. Some buyers could be put off if there’s nowhere else to park. Improve the layout and flow of your space by combining a small extension with a layout configuration. Plan your extension around your lifestyle and build in the things that matter to you, such as a dedicated utility room, an extra lounge or a bigger kitchen. Front elevation of our Organic Modern design, partly inspired by FLW’s Fallingwater. The home blends organic and industrial materials, with thoughtful use of horizontal and vertical lines to guide the eye across the facade. Large floor-to-ceiling and corner windows maximize views of the surrounding landscape, while the vertical piers, integrated planters, and detailed stonework on the first floor echo the natural environment and help ground the structure. The 12’ office, with its roof connecting to the porch, creates a grand feel to the front entrance. The Tribune Tower in Chicago was voted the best building in 2024. You know what’s special about this building? It’s great Urban Design! Doug Graf talked about this in the theory of urban design class. It’s the way the building is set in the urban framework and what Michigan Avenue does to it that makes it so special. Michigan Avenue travels pretty straight through downtown Chicago - perfectly framing the Wrigley’s building on an axis. However as Michigan Avenue crosses the Chicago River, it negotiates the shift in the urban grid with a bend and opens up a spectacular avenue, perfectly framing the Tribune Building. There is a sense of awe inspiring drama and discovery to this setting, creating great urban plazas and spaces when one travels through Chicago. Why hire urban designers? Because great Urban Design with complimentary Architecture can create timeless masterpieces! note: Good Urban Form is not just dependent on architectural style as much as it is about great setting integrated with meticulous details and craft. The next Tribune tower could be a contemporary looking building - but without the urban framework and sighting it won’t be as cherished or celebrated for decades to come. #urbandesign #urbandesignmakescitiesfun

This is the front elevation of a residential building, designed by our office anod architecture at Polygono hill, Athens Small dimensions of the plot set from the beginning an interesting challenge during the design process. Natural light enters in the spaces only from the narrow front – North elevation – of Geranion street, with a width of 8.00m and the back –South elevation– of corresponding width, with unobstructed views towards the Saronic Gulf. The absence of balconies on the North elevation was a synthetic decision. This is in contrast to the small balconies that are usually present in older buildings in the narrow streets of Athens. While the unparalleled view from the South elevation towards the Saronic, led us to design large openings and balconies. The above characteristics, to a large extend, influenced the final layout of the apartments, where we find rest areas on the North side, while the living room and kitchen areas are placed on the South side. #anodarchitecture architectural design | construction : anod architecture stage: under construction Follow us | : instagram : bit.ly/anodarchitecture : www.anod.gr #architecture #greekarchitecture #dezeen #designboom #archdaily #greece #greekarchitects #greekarchitecture #instadesign #design #architecturelovers #building #residential #athens
