The rapid decline of biodiversity is one of the biggest threats of our time. Agriculture is part of the solution. Conserving #biodiversity requires conscious management of #agriculture at landscape, national, regional and global levels, as the IUCN report "Agriculture and conservation" shows with detailed analysis. This conscious management of agriculture requires #dialogue and #collaboration among multiple stakeholders: farmers, policy makers, investors, conservation players. - Where does sustainable intensification make sense and where should land be spared? - How will farmers benefit from changing practices, and how will they be rewarded for giving up land? - What type of agriculture makes sense in the local context, and how are farmers empowered to make necessary shifts? It is excellent to see IUCN's commitment to convening "Common Ground Dialogues" for shared visions and commitments and to facilitate inclusive and participatory development of policies and action plans.
