🇮🇹 🇧🇪 The new year has yet to start, but the intermodal connection between #Italy and #Flanders is already set to become stronger! 🇮🇹 🇧🇪 Hupac Group, Europe's leading intermodal network operator, will start 2025 with new connections and improved services, designed to make intermodal operations even more efficient and sustainable: 🚃 Hupac will activate a new shuttle train between the industrial areas of #Gent and #Piadena, located south-east of Milan. The connection will start with a frequency of 3 roundtrips per week – more to be expected after the initial phase. 🚃The group will also increase the frequency of its intermodal connection between #Zeebrugge and #Piacenza from 3 to 4 roundtrips per week, strengthening the stability and transit time of the service. Asterion Industrial Partners has agreed to buy 49% stake of 2i Aeroporti from Ardian and Crédit Agricole Assurances. The Italian company holds direct and indirect participations in Milano Malpensa and Linate, Naples, Salerno, Torino, Trieste, Bologna and Bergamo airports, accounting for over 32% of passengers traffic and 70% of cargo in Italy, as of 2023. “We are committed to advancing 2i Aeroporti´s position as the first airport operator in Italy, with sustainable growth and enhancing Italy´s connectivity” said Guido Mitrani, founding partner at Asterion. With a significant presence in Italy, Asterion continues to grow its operations in the country and this represents its first investment in the airport sector, expanding its presence in mobility by acquiring a unique and strategic portfolio of airports with high barriers to entry, long remaining concessions and supportive regulations. In line with its ESG strategy, Asterion plans to focus on emission reduction initiatives, ease the transition to greener aviation fuels, and promote Net Zero plans to make air travel more sustainable. This transaction is also a new opportunity to partner again with F2i SGR, who has steadily led 2i Aeroporti since the creation of the platform in 2010. #Mobility. Ir e Vir, enhancing public #transport coverage in Viseu Dão Lafões Region: a new Good Practice approved in EMBRACER! The region of Viseu Dão Lafões faces challenges such as villages with less than 40 inhabitants lacking public transport, areas lacking frequency of public transport, and ~29% population with +65 years. This electric bus service will run on dedicated lanes and build a central station to restructure mobility in the city. 🔌 Évora will be a pioneering town in Portugal by adopting an all-electric public transport network. Thanks to the commitment of the concessionaire Trevo, this project will be possible. 🌱 In 2023, Parques Tejo revealed that the mobility sharing system in the Município de Oeiras recorded 144,000 journeys, preventing the emission of 60 tonnes of carbon dioxide. 🚁 The Município de Oeiras and the Magellan 500 Airport consortium signed a protocol to implement an Air Electric Mobility project for passenger transport.
