As Queensland heads to the polls, ATSE is proud to present our vision to build the state’s progress across renewable, digital and manufacturing innovations. We’re calling for: 📱 Investing in digital skills in the regions ⚡ Incentivising efficient energy solutions 💧 A state-wide sustainable water management plan 🔬 Boosting adoption of emerging technologies 📊 Implementing an integrated population and land use plan Kylie Walker, ATSE CEO, highlights that the Queensland Government only invests 0.07% of its Gross State Product on developing new innovations – to meet Queensland’s ambitions, this needs to change. ATSE’s Queensland Division Chair Dr Sue Keay FTSE, representing over 150 of Queensland’s leading engineers and technologists, said, “Queensland has the ability to lead the nation as Australia’s innovation state, but we must invest in STEMM education and industries.” ATSE encourages all candidates to engage with Queensland’s science and technology community to build a more prosperous and resilient Queensland. 🔗 Read more about ATSE’s vision for Queensland here: https://lnkd.in/g6ftZwKK

The #UniversalEnergyFacility (UEF) team recently convened at Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) headquarters in Vienna, Austria, for a productive three-day retreat. Our focus was clear: charting the course for continued success in delivering sustainable energy solutions across and beyond Africa. The retreat fostered critical discussions on how to further empower governments in their pursuit of socio-economic development through clean energy access. Strategies were explored to strengthen communication and collaboration, ensuring UEF's support effectively amplifies these efforts. Empowering clean energy developers was another key theme. The team brainstormed best practices to guide developers in attracting additional funding and fortifying the clean energy landscape within their respective countries. Sharing success stories also took center stage. We delved into innovative ways to showcase the transformative impact UEF projects are having in underserved communities, inspiring further progress. Open communication and ongoing engagement with our partners were also highlighted as crucial elements for achieving shared goals. The retreat solidified our commitment to this collaborative approach, ensuring steady and rapid progress alongside our valued stakeholders. #FinancingEnergyProsperity #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #SustainableEnergy #minigrid #offgridsolar #energyaccess #SustainableDevelopment #SolarPower #SolarEnergy #SolarPanels

Many countries have increased their reliance on renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions and overall ecological footprint, but it is argued that any positive relationship between economic growth and pro-environmental outcomes relies heavily on the quality of a country's institutions. This paper investigates this contention, focusing on the so-called Next 11 (N-11) countries, that is those developing countries exhibiting the most rapid economic development in the last three decades. We found that while economic growth frequently generates environmental degradation, increasing consumption of renewable energy reduces the ecological footprint provided that institutional quality contributes positively to pro-environmental outcomes. The results provide a benchmark for policymakers in the N-11 countries to increase investment in renewable energy resources to help deliver environmental sustainability goals while also emphasising the need for governments to develop improved institutional quality. https://lnkd.in/ez9PAESP Thank you to Dr George Amegavi and Professor Guy Robinson.

Dear connections, our article with Dr. Sarvar Gurbanov "Smart Grid and Electricity Security: Case of Azerbaijan as a Resource-Rich Country" has been published in open access journal. Our study analyzes whether the current traditional electricity system of Azerbaijan is ready to absorb and incorporate a large share of #renewableenergy sources, assesses current #reforms in country's #electricitysector and determines the challenges in the prospect of #smartgrid development. Azerbaijan has almost #200GW of technical potential in developing renewable energy sources, however, the penetration of renewables to the current conventional grid will rise another big issue of #electricitysecurity. The development of a smart grid system is considered as a solution to #energytransition. The study primarily uses interviews with industry experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current electricity system situation. Live thought captures from Bank of America's 'The Path to a Sustainable Future' Conference today... "The Biden administration announced that they've brought together 8 government agencies with the aim of shortening the permit approval process for renewable energy projects from 10 years to just 2 years. This is a significant change that aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources and streamline the development of critical infrastructure." - Artesian Managing Partner John McCartney. "The second panel focused on mobilizing capital to address water scarcity, the conversation highlighted the intrinsic link between sustainable economic growth and water management. The panelists emphasized the urgent need for innovative solutions and investments to ensure water security, which is essential for both environmental sustainability and economic stability... collaborative efforts is extremely important among corporations, investors, and governments to tackle water-related challenges and drive impactful change." - Artesian Managing Director, Kurt Tan #sustainablefuture #SDGs #impactinvesting Artesian (Alternative Investments) Energy Impact Partners U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Domini Impact Investments LLC Ecolab Veolia North America
