Gerard Cavero Siscart introduced a novel methodology for #turbulence #calibration in long-term hi-res synthetic #timeseries for wind projects, utilizing real-world measurements and machine learning techniques to enhance model accuracy, address biases, and ensure consistency with natural patterns, demonstrating its robustness and reliability through extensive validation at over 50 sites worldwide. Farkhondeh Rouholahnejad presented a methodology using #floating #lidar data and random #forest #models for wind speed prediction in offshore applications, demonstrating superior accuracy in capturing #wind #speed variations and local effects compared to ERA5 data, and highlighting the potential for enhancing wind resource assessment through #machinelearning methods. Knut S. Seim presented a study assessing the impact of wind-speed and direction-dependent #tilt of a wind turbine on a #floating substructure, revealing that most models result in an overall reduction in power when comparing the tilted case to the no-tilt case, but with a reduction of the loss due to wake deflection. Christopher Rodaway discussed the increasing need for advanced #modelling to capture the complex interactions between large offshore wind farms and the atmosphere, particularly focusing on the impact of #gravitywaves on power distributions, and highlighting the potential risks future wind farms may face due to shortcomings in legacy models.
