Maximising regional benefits from renewables in 6 simple steps First step - farmers paid for hosting Second step - enduring partnerships with traditional owners Third step - neighbours and communities share in the benefits Fourth step - invest in local infrastructure such as housing, hospitals, schools. Renewable projects don’t build themselves. Fifth step - maximise participation of the local supply chain - which includes building regional capacity Final step - (which may happen first) attract new energy intensive businesses to the regions just like how we brought aluminium smelting to Bell Bay, Portland, Tomago, Gladstone and Invercargill. A product’s electricity consumption can represent a significant source of emissions within the emission footprint of consumers and manufacturers alike.
