Heads up! No athlete is immune from concussion, but the effects can be especially serious on young, developing brains. Dr. Edward Skicki, a trauma surgeon at Lancaster General Hospital's Level 1 Trauma Center, alerts parents, youth, and coaches to be aware of signs of concussion and respond to them promptly: 🔺 Headache 🔺 Dizziness 🔺 Tiredness 🔺 Grumpiness 🔺 Nausea/no appetite Although we often associate concussion with sports injuries, any hit to the head can cause this brain injury. Even a blow to another part of the body that results in a rapid back-and-forth motion of the head and brain can cause a concussion.
