Our Amputee lead physiotherapist Jason Robinson attended the Vascular societies annual scientific meeting held in wonderful Brighton at the end of November, participating in the BACPAR annual conference. He reported back "It was a fully packed schedule with some fantastic speakers over the two days. Particular highlights included the presentation given by Ulla Riis Madsen who discussed the implications of prosthetic provision in palliative care and how this can impact on quality of life. Two talks that offered insight into the early management of clients regarding the use of semi-rigid dressings in post amputation care and an open wound policy in early prosthetic rehabilitation highlighted developments in the management of lower limb amputations showing the benefits these practices can have for the right patients in terms of speeding up the provision of prosthetics, enabling improved quality of life both physically and psychologically. The exhibitors were great and it was nice to get up close with some of the new technology that our clients will be using over the coming years. All in all a fantastic couple of days meeting up with old and new faces, and learning where the industry is going in terms of rehabilitation practices"

A modern way to teach and practice manual therapy The aim of this paper is to stimulate debate about the future teaching and practice of manual therapy through the proposal of an evidence-informed re-conceptualised model of manual therapy. The new model dismisses traditional elements of manual therapy which are not supported by research evidence. In place, the model offers a structure based on common humanistic principles of healthcare. https://lnkd.in/dN6-r244

"Rehab is as important as medicine and surgery." We're thrilled to see rehabilitation taking centre stage at the NHS ConfedExpo in Manchester, where health leaders emphasised its crucial role in patient recovery. At Function Jigsaw, this is exactly why we champion a multidisciplinary approach to injury recovery. Hosted by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), this event brought together top figures from NHS England, the King’s Fund, and the Richmond Group. The health leaders emphasised that investing in community healthcare can help avoid unnecessary hospital visits highlighting that while medicine and surgery save lives, rehabilitation saves people. This is why our philosophy is simple yet powerful: 🔹 Multidisciplinary Team: We bring together expert practitioners from various fields of injury recovery, ensuring a holistic and comprehensive care plan for each patient. 🔹 Collaborative Care: By working hand-in-hand with specialists across disciplines, we enhance patient recovery and achieve the best outcomes. 🔹 Personalised Approach: Every patient is unique, and so is our approach. We tailor our rehabilitation plans to meet individual needs, driving better, faster, and more sustainable recovery. The conference reinforced what we've always believed – collaboration and specialised care are key to unlocking the full potential of rehabilitation. Together, we strive to keep you active and resilient to injury. #FunctionJigsaw #Rehabilitation #MultidisciplinaryCare #InjuryRecovery #NHSConfedExpo #ActiveRecovery #HolisticHealth

In response to a rapidly changing environment, EFORT has recently undergone significant structural and operational changes. These changes are not without difficulty, but they allow us to focus on what matters for the future of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Europe. Support General Practice: The Heart of Our NHS 💙🏥 A recent HSJ article, "NHS has ‘thrown money’ at unproductive hospitals" (11/09/2024), highlights a crucial issue: while hospitals have received more funding, General Practice – the backbone of our NHS – has been underfunded since 2010. 📉 Why do GPs matter? They are the first point of contact for most patients, providing ongoing, personalised care that keeps people healthy and out of hospitals. From diagnosing early to managing chronic conditions, GPs are essential for preventing more serious and costly treatments down the line. 🩺 General Practices are independent and manage growing patient demands with tight budgets, delivering efficient, personalised care. Yet, they cannot run deficits like other sectors. 📊💡 To secure a sustainable future for the NHS, we must invest more in General Practice to ensure everyone continues receiving the high-quality care they deserve. 👩⚕️👨⚕️ We call on senior ministers and healthcare leaders to prioritise General Practice, invest in its future, and enact reforms that will help GPs thrive—for the benefit of patients and the entire healthcare system. #SupportYourGP #NHS #PrimaryCare#DrKatieBramallStainer# For more, check out the BMA's "GPs Are On Your Side" campaign: https://lnkd.in/eGR5muwZ 🌟
