🌟 Building Sustainable Communities in East Gippsland 🌟 Launched in mid-2024, the Resilient Regions program supports East Gippsland communities in disaster planning, recovery, and addressing social and economic challenges. This initiative invites communities to define what sustainability looks like for their community and region. With a focus on resilience and long-term sustainability, local leaders and volunteers are making progress with communities across Orbost, Nowa Nowa, and Mallacoota. ABV Skilled Volunteers and experts from our partner Arup are collaborating on innovative projects to support this vision. With many communities reaching out to join this collective effort, we invite any group in East Gippsland to connect with us. Together, we’re building sustainable, resilient communities for a brighter future. 📧 Email us at hello@abv.org.au Proudly supported by the Victorian Government. #ResilientRegions #SustainableCommunities #CommunityStrength #EastGippsland #DisasterRecovery #LocalLeadership #SocialImpact #Victoria

HONORING WEWAK’S HISTORY: BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FROM A LEGACY OF RESILIENCE This historical black and white photo from 1945 captures Wewak, a town with a rich past shaped by resilience and resourcefulness during challenging times. The buildings and early infrastructure reflect the community’s perseverance amid wartime and rebuilding efforts. These remnants of a bygone era serve as reminders of the environmental and societal impacts communities have endured. Today, Sepik Wetlands & Peatlands Limited is committed to preserving the natural heritage of areas like Wewak by championing sustainable practices that protect the environment and foster resilient communities. Our initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly through conservation of wetlands, reforestation, and community-driven carbon projects. By addressing environmental challenges, we aim to ensure that the legacy of resourcefulness seen in Wewak’s past is upheld in a way that safeguards both the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Through careful stewardship, SWPL aspires to help communities not only remember their past but also thrive sustainably into the future. Visit our website at www.sepikwpl.com for more information on how we’re making a difference. #SustainableFuture #SWPL #HonoringHistory

🌍 Today is World Habitat Day—a reminder that the future of our cities depends on the actions we take now 💚. In the words of Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, "Let us work together to provide safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements for all." At Beacon, we’re committed to doing our part by supporting urban sustainability projects and creating designs that promote environmental action and community well-being, as demonstrated by our work with the Green Municipal Fund, among others. Check out how their funding and capacity-building programs are accelerating a transformation to resilient, net-zero communities across Canada. #WorldHabitatDay #SustainableCities #CommunityResilience

☀️ Part III: Helping community organizations and local governments get funding for meaningful, equitable climate action and community resilience is at the heart of USDN’s work during this moment of unprecedented federal investment. After many years of intentional work by partners on the ground, USDN brought in partner Melissa Unemori Hampe of Skog Rasmussen to support a request for federal appropriations that would fund a portion of the new Resilience Hub. With these funds, the Hub will have $5.4 million in direct funding to begin site development and implementation. USDN is so excited about the partnership between our Direct Support & Innovation team and our Federal Funding team, which has supported the Koʻolauloa Community Resilience Hub over the past 5 years! Obtaining appropriations funding is such an incredible outcome and will support the goals of USDN member City and County of Honolulu, other USDN partners in Hawaii working on Resilience Hubs, and its community members in Hawaii. 📸: Picture 1 - Future site of the Koʻolauloa Community Resilience Hub | Picture 2 - Game of Extremes (https://lnkd.in/eJg44VRg) in Oahu, Hawaii — 🤿 New to the idea of Resilience Hubs and want to dive deeper?
