Did you know that data is only as powerful as the culture behind it? Building a data-driven culture is the key to high-performing teams. It’s not just about having the right tools, it’s about embedding data into every decision and strategy. Here’s what works: ➜ Get everyone on board: Ensure the entire team understands the value of data, not just the analysts. ➜ Trust the data: We integrated our systems (including HubSpot) to ensure consistency and reliability across the board. ➜ Lead by example: As leaders, we need to make data-driven decisions visible in every strategy session. ➜ Encourage questions: Foster a culture where data is challenged and discussed openly. ➜ Celebrate wins: Highlight when data leads to success, reinforcing its importance. Building this culture takes time, but the payoff is worth it, better decisions and stronger outcomes. How are you making data part of your company’s DNA? What challenges have you faced? #hubspot #data #success #team

I couldn't agree more. Data is the bedrock of continuous improvement. Guesswork and averaging to the lowest team's performance is not aligned with any organizations goals for resource utilization. The data collection should start as soon as possible, at the gate. Know your ingredients when they are still logs on the truck. Watch, measure, record and optimize from deck, Jack ladder, Drum or rotary debarker to chipper and refuse conveyor. Not a snap shot, a continuous view of every chip and piece of bark not removed. Teknosavo Woodsmart suite of value added, automated data collection, intuitive AI is derived from the mountains of data you don't collect today. Do you believe your data is biased, irregular, unreliable, basically unactionable? Why even waste the money gathering it? If it is snap shot grabbed only once a shift or day, you have very weak data. Is that how the paper machine looks at the quality of its paper on the winder? Weight, strength, color, absorption, all measured. Does the pulp mill measure, PH, temp, brightness and more? Your screening and taking chip samples once a shift. That's it. The woodroom is the key to +50% of the cost to manufacture at the mill. All you can afford to invest is the bare minimum to over 50% of your input cost. Why is all that profit being wasted on energy, knives, procurement, mobile equipment wear and tear? Why is 90% of the study and data gathered at the paper machine? Does a bread manufacture worry more about the speed of the oven or the quality of the ingredients? Speed can be perfected when ingredients are in a tight bell curve of quality, predictable cooking means runability at the head box and machine. Stop sheet breaks at their source, the woodroom. Dirt screens are not plugged when your chips only have 3/4% of bark content. Ready to commit to a total quality environment? Want to gather 3 to 5% fiber recovery from your biomass? Want to stop chipper plugs and upset conditions in your digester and dirt screens overloading, high bark content? Measuring the savings and assigning the credit is when the data gets really interesting. Time to call the team at Material Control Solutions L.L.C. for a consultation on where millions could be going to, in lost time, out of spec ingredients in your woodroom. We can help 866-476-9861. Redefining High Potential A timely and transformative topic -- Culture by Design: Harnessing Behavioral Data for Success -- is one that sits at the intersection of data, leadership, strategy, and culture. I’ve seen behavioral data used to redefine the concept of high potential in organizations... ...because behavioral data allows organizations to go beyond traditional markers of high potential, such as tenure or academic credentials, to identify traits like adaptability, resilience, and motivation. For instance, companies that prioritize these traits in talent development are 24% more likely to see improved employee performance, according to a recent survey by Deloitte. #industryinsights #leadershipexcellence #teamwork #AlignmentAlchemist

🚀 Reflections on 5 Months of Leadership: Leveraging Data to Drive Impact 📊 Five months ago, I stepped into a leadership role within a new team, in a relatively new department. A new role, a new mission, and countless opportunities. Where do you even begin? Step 1: Understand the Mission. The first challenge is to truly grasp the mission, objectives, and—most importantly—the impact of your work on the clients you serve. Simple in theory, complex in execution. Step 2: Dive into the Data. Every department has metrics, but are they being analyzed effectively? I focused on understanding where the data originates, assessing its validity, and piecing together the bigger picture. Step 3: Balance Observation with Action. "Don’t rush to make changes," someone wisely advised. Instead, understand the dynamics first. But let’s be honest—there are times when action is necessary. The key is deciding what will have the most meaningful and immediate impact. Step 4: Build Systems for the Future. Once I understood the data we had, I identified gaps and created systems to collect the data we needed. This laid the foundation for informed decision-making. Step 5: Let the Data Tell the Story. Data isn’t just numbers—it’s a narrative. I’ve used it to: -Highlight the team’s vital role in the organization. -Illustrate the tangible impact of their efforts. -Guide process improvements, priorities, and strategic decisions. By showing the team how their work connects to measurable outcomes, I’ve empowered them to see the value of what they do. Numbers aren’t just metrics—they’re motivators. What I’ve Learned: Data, when used intentionally, can guide not only decisions but also people. It’s not an easy process, but it works. 👉 Your Turn: How do you leverage data to lead and inspire your team? Let’s share insights! 💡 #Leadership #DataDrivenDecisions #TeamImpact #ProfessionalGrowth #localgovernment

It's About People, Not Dashboards..... In today's data-driven world, dashboards are everywhere. They flash metrics, KPIs, and charts, promising a clear view of success. But are we getting lost in the information? Don't get me wrong, data is crucial. But it's the people behind the numbers that truly drive results. Here's why focusing on people is key: 1) Innovation comes from human creativity. Dashboards can't predict the next big thing. It takes passionate people with diverse backgrounds to spark innovation. 2) Motivation fuels performance. Numbers can't inspire or motivate. We need strong leadership, clear communication, and a culture of recognition to keep teams engaged. 3) Building relationships fosters collaboration. Dashboards can't build trust or understanding. It takes open communication, empathy, and a focus on shared goals to create a truly collaborative environment. So, how do we shift the focus? 1️⃣ Use data to empower, not control. Let data guide decisions, not dictate them. Trust your team's expertise and judgment. 2️⃣ Invest in your people. Provide opportunities for growth, development, and feedback. 3️⃣ Celebrate wins (big and small). Recognition goes a long way in boosting morale and driving continued success. Let's not forget the human element in our pursuit of data-driven success. After all, it's the people who make the numbers sing. #PeopleFirst #Leadership #Culture #Data #Innovation #Teamwork #EmployeeEngagement #HumanResources #BusinessSuccess #WorkplaceCulture #Collaboration #GrowthMindset #Inspiration #Success #Motivation #Trust #Communication #EmployeeRecognition #LeadershipDevelopment #BusinessStrategy What are your thoughts? 7 things I am telling all my new hires to any data team: 0) take care of yourself - stay within the defined working hours. 1) read the data strategy and the company business strategy. 2) talk to two team members and two non-team members about both strategies. 3) check out the data catalog and BI tool daily. Familiarize yourself with our data. 4) ask all your questions. If your peers can not answer your questions, get to my office. I am interested to learn and improve. 5) Use the onboarding guide and improve at least two things in there. 6) Have fun and make history. What do you recommend to your new hires? 🫶🏼 Share this one with your colleagues and peers who are aiming for authenticity and data leadership as well. ✨ Follow Dr. Markus Schmidberger and Turtle Transformation Limited for more authentic leadership content. #authenticleadership #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #data #datastrategy #newhire #onboarding
