How will Montana Renewables’ SAF production impact the future of sustainable air travel? Montana Renewables, LLC (MRL) has successfully delivered its first shipment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Detroit Metropolitan Airport - DTW. This 7,000-gallon SAF supply, made from camelina oil and utilized by Delta Air Lines, marks a step forward in decarbonizing air travel. Bruce Fleming, CEO of MRL, highlighted the importance of using camelina oil, a renewable non-food source that benefits farmers by providing an additional cash crop. MRL recently received a $1.44 billion guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to expand its Great Falls, Montana, facility into a major SAF production center, increasing biofuel output from 140 million to 315 million gallons per year. This expansion emphasizes MRL’s dedication to innovative, scalable solutions in sustainable aviation. What role do you see SAF and biofuels playing in the future of aviation? 🌍 Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Driving a Greener Future ✈ The aviation industry is advancing with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a cleaner alternative to traditional jet fuel made from renewable feedstocks like municipal waste, biomass, and oils. 🔹 Key Producers: World Energy: Producing SAF since 2016 for major California airports. Neste: Expanding SAF availability to airports in California and Colorado. Montana Renewables LLC: Partnering with Shell, started SAF production in 2023. 🔹 Growth & Demand: SAF consumption grew from 5 million gallons in 2021 to 24.5 million in 2023, with rising demand as airlines commit to greener fuel. 🔹 Production Pathways: ASTM-approved technologies like hydroprocessed esters and alcohol-to-jet are paving the way for SAF's widespread use. 💚 Sustaind is proud to support this shift toward sustainability, helping aviation reduce its carbon footprint and build a greener future. #SustainableAviationFuel #SAF #CleanEnergy #SustainD #AviationSustainability #ClimateAction #RenewableFuel

By 2045, the industry will need 636 billion liters of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to replace all fossil fuels currently in use. The projection is from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). SAF stands out as the market's main hope for decreasing emissions over the next few decades: by itself, SAF could contribute around 65% of the reduction in emissions needed by aviation to reach net zero CO2, as estimated by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). One of the main reasons is that it does not require adaptation of the engine fuel system currently in use. Currently, SAF accounts for less than 0.1% of all aviation fuels consumed, which places Brazil as a player with unique opportunities in this market. In this context, we are rapidly disrupting the SAF market by leveraging macaúba oil - a highly competitive native plant from Brazil – through a robust renewable fuels project designed to reduce carbon emissions by up to 80%. With Acelen Renewables, Brazil will become the hub of renewable aviation fuel that the world has been waiting for. #energy #renewableenergy #fuels #energytransition #SAF

📢 [New Report] The Global SAF Producer Landscape 👉 https://lnkd.in/gaFmnFHn The global SAF project pipeline is extremely strong, with nearly 190 companies announcing their intention to produce sustainable fuels. With national and state level incentives in place, and the SAF Grand Challenge underway, it is no surprise that the USA is leading in announced projects. However, only 18 of those companies are currently producing SAF, and only a few of them are producing at scale, which leaves 170 aspiring producers at varying stages of investment and development. Learn more in the Global SAF Producer and Developer Landscape Report produced by TravelCarbon, and presented by Sustainable Aviation Futures. It's so encouraging to see this progress in the supply of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) ✈️ Projecting a tripling in global SAF production during 2024 is a step in the right direction, although there's still a long road ahead. #SustainableAviation #GreenRecovery As @WillieWalshIATA rightly points out, while having 0.53% of annual fuel requirements covered by SAF is progress, it's far from the levels needed for airlines to meet their ambitious #NetZero2050 targets. Greater efforts will be required from all stakeholders involved. 💪🌍 IATA's call on governments to implement robust policies and measures that truly accelerate and incentivize greater SAF production is spot on. 🎯 Diversifying feedstocks, offering stable tax incentives, and tapping into sources like agricultural and forestry waste will be key. #RenewableEnergy #GreenFuels The establishment of IATA's SAF Registry to transparently track emissions reductions is also an excellent initiative. Having industry leaders like @AirFrance @KLM @SingaporeAir @Delta already onboard looks promising. 👏🛫 Ultimately, news like this renews hope for a more sustainable aviation industry, but it must be a catalyst to redouble efforts. What other priority measures or initiatives do you see from your respective roles to drive a more decisive shift in this direction? Let's keep this conversation going! 💬🔁 #SustainableTravel #FutureOfFlying #AviacionSostenible #DescarbonizacionAviacion #SustainableAviation #NetZero2050 #SustainableAviationFutures #PtL #RFNBO
