Using 𝗣𝗫𝟰 𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗟, 𝗠𝗔𝗩𝗥𝗢𝗦, and 𝗚𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗯𝗼, I developed a system for a drone to execute a smooth circular trajectory, guided by a 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿. The results? Take a look at the attached video! It showcases the drone’s precise path-following capabilities, visualized in 𝗥𝗩𝗶𝘇, with every movement adhering beautifully to the planned trajectory. Over the past year, the UDC lab has been able to explore a variety of innovative projects, and two of these UAV projects required simulation and testing that were made using SIMNET Aero, a browser-based cloud modeling and simulation platform. These projects really highlight how the tool has been instrumental to our work. 📌 ICMTC - UAV Challenge: The simulation capabilities were essential for optimizing the design before the aircraft ever got off the ground. 📌 Distributed Propulsion Tailsitter E-VTOL graduation project: The simulation of complex takeoff dynamics was challenging in physical testing alone. A significant part of our progress in these aircraft projects has been thanks to SIMNET Aero, as the modeling tools made it easy for us to iterate on designs, while the autonomous and manual simulation capabilities allowed us to thoroughly test our aircraft in different scenarios via integrating SIMNET Aero with PX4 and QGroundControl. Overall, the diverse features and user-friendly interface have been a game-changer for us at the UDC Lab.
