In education, the true measure of success often extends far beyond academic outcomes. It lies in the strength of a school’s culture—a culture that unites, supports, and uplifts everyone who passes through its gates. Recently, I had a powerful reminder of this when I had dinner with three former colleagues from YCIS Shanghai 上海耀中外籍人员子女学校 Yew Chung International School of Shanghai all of whom are now principals within the YCIS network. Though three years have passed since I left YCIS, that dinner felt like coming home, a testament to the school’s enduring impact on its people. Schools with strong cultural leadership do more than just foster a positive environment—they create lifelong bonds that transcend time and distance. YCIS exemplifies this through its commitment to building a culture of trust, shared values, and mutual support among educators, students, and the entire community. This culture remains with you, impacting your life long after you leave. It speaks to the kind of leadership that values the holistic development of everyone involved, nurturing a legacy that lives on beyond school walls. This dinner reminded me of how YCIS’s culture is rooted in a vision that priorities relationships, growth, and continuous learning. It’s a vision that shapes not only how we teach and lead within the school but also how we carry these principles forward, no matter where we go. For educators, joining a school like YCIS means becoming part of a community where culture isn’t just an idea—it’s a lived experience, one that shapes who you are as an educator and continues to enrich your journey long after you’ve left. In a world where schools are often defined by short-term achievements, YCIS stands as a beacon of what’s possible when cultural leadership takes center stage. For those considering an international teaching career, YCIS is more than just a workplace; it’s a community that builds lasting connections and leaves an indelible mark on all who are part of it. #EducationalCulture #LeadershipInEducation #InternationalTeaching #LifelongConnections

What's the bridge between disengagement and empowerment, between performative gestures and genuine impact? That's what I just taught about. I had the privilege of facilitating the workshop "Cracking the Code on Student Disengagement: A Framework for School Leaders" with the ASCD + ISTE community, where over 80 dedicated educators from around the globe joined to explore actionable solutions to one of education’s most pressing challenges. We dove deep into: ✅ Identifying and addressing performative diversity. ✅ Introducing Equity Access Points to truly engage students. ✅ Building strategies that promote inclusivity and engagement at the school and classroom levels. Here’s what participants had to say: 🗨️ “Michelle's presentation provides vital information for participants to assess and reflect on the needs for all students to thrive.” 🗨️ “I love her passion and enthusiasm. Some powerful points and actionable items!” 🗨️ “Amazing! I wish we had our beginning teachers watch it.” It’s moments like these that reaffirm the importance of creating spaces for meaningful, solution-oriented conversations. When educators come together to learn, grow, and collaborate, amazing things happen for our schools and students. "We should be optimistic. We are having this conversation among educators, community leaders, employers, and civil society. It is a conversation about the competencies of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and imagination. We need to think this way, and think about it together, if we are going to be able to tackle problems for which we don’t yet have solutions and anticipate a better future. Now is the time for step change requiring a global perspective and a strong sense of global responsibility." NCEE board of trustees co-chair, Anthony Mackay on how countries can learn from one another to improve professional learning, the educator workforce, and outcomes for students. https://lnkd.in/gTDMQRRM Learning Forward #LearningToLeading #FutureOfEd #GlobalEducation

Where education often clings to rote memorization, our curriculum offers a more transformative approach—one that molds young minds to think actively and solve problems creatively. 📚 It engages students in real-world problems and encourages them to question, analyze, and create, not just memorize and recall facts. We’re committed to empowering students to think deeply about the world around them as they shape it courageously and creatively. 📝 Picture a classroom where students engage deeply with the lessons, challenge existing ideas, and push the boundaries of their creativity. This is the heart of our educational philosophy. ✨ As educators and leaders, you hold the key to creating environments where our students can thrive. Our curriculum helps you achieve this by aligning with modern educational standards. And it's supported by various funding opportunities, ensuring accessibility and sustainability for your school. ✏️ Because it's not just about preparing students for tests. ✅ It's about preparing them for life. ✅ It's about teaching them to think like innovators. ✅ It's about giving them the tools they need to be leaders. “Plan for it now,” she said. “Get people talking about [the possibility of civil unrest] and establish some norms the first day in preparation and revisit it a couple of times so it doesn’t just crop up and people are unprepared the day after.” - Mary Aviles, in this Inside Higher Ed article (https://lnkd.in/eumPBRYD) Credo is proud to partner with the Constructive Dialogue Institute this year on an immersive experience for Presidents and their Cabinets to foster campus environments that prioritize creativity and innovation over toxic conflict. Indeed, how leaders across higher education respond to the increasingly complex political landscape is paramount. What are some "go-to" resources you recommend for college or university leaders seeking to support a healthy campus climate for learning this fall?
