Last week we ran a workshop on how to be a more effective supervisor for an organisation whose emerging leaders span the breadth of Australia, so we delivered the whole day virtually. The aim of the workshop was to learn strategies to manage team member performance more effectively and to better understand the principles of managing people. It’s not always easy to stay engaged while online – and one thing that helps is motivated participants. By varying the activities and keeping the learning relevant we were able to get through the workshop objectives successfully as well as meeting some individual outcomes. Hats off to the supervisors who showed up, virtually, keen to learn how and where to make improvements in how they work with their staff. Here is just some of the feedback and outcomes from the day: · This was a very in-depth training – I enjoyed it · I learned better methods of communication with my staff · My key takeaway from this course was how to better manage people · For me it was the importance of communication and how different people communicate in different styles · I discovered more ways and different angles on my job title · I now know how to have better communication with staff and getting to know them and their needs and motivations · Best thing was being able to apply this in the workplace #ATIMIRAGE #ATI #training #supervisor

I recently came across this Fortune article that states about 85% of HR professionals emphasize the growing importance of coaching skills for business leaders (based off a recent report from DDI). Despite this, many leaders feel they aren’t receiving enough coaching, and a significant number of frontline leaders are seeking more guidance. Consider this, companies with effective coaching practices are more successful in engaging and retaining top talent. Additionally, high-potential employees—those who are ready to grow rapidly—are twice as likely to leave if they lack effective coaching. How do you overcome these challenges? There are numerous places to start and, frankly, it really is dependent on your unique organization. Having served over 240 clients at Stewart Leadership, I can tell you that no two organizations are alike. Our approach is this: We partner with you to design a tailored solution that meets your specific needs; incorporating assessments, coaching, training, consulting, and on-going support so you, your leaders, and your organization can inspire confidence and have a greater positive impact. If you'd like to explore how we can support your organization, feel free to reach out. I'm always available for a conversation, whether it’s a quick question or a deeper discussion. You wouldn't just sign up for a marathon...without learning how to run beforehand... 🏃♀️ You wouldn't just jump into the sea...without learning to swim beforehand... 🏊♀️ So why would you throw someone into management...without training and development beforehand? 🤷♀️ Too often people become team leaders by accident, with no proper support or development, just because of their technical competence at their job. And the knock on effect isn't just detrimental to their own self-confidence and success, but also a contributory factor in team members leaving! Did you get the support and training you needed before leading a team? Are you providing the right development for your aspiring managers? #leadershipdevelopment #management

Mentoring and Coaching as Managers, and why it’s important to be a willing participant for your teams, departmental organizations, and workplaces as a whole. Mentoring and coaching are both vital for developing management skills, acting as catalysts for personal and professional growth. Mentors provide guidance, share knowledge, and offer insights based on their own experiences, helping mentees navigate career paths and develop leadership qualities. Coaching focuses on unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their performance, emphasizing goal setting, problem-solving, and developing competencies. Together, they foster a supportive environment where emerging managers can learn, experiment, and refine their skills, including decision-making, strategic thinking, and effective communication. This personalized support accelerates learning, boosts confidence, and prepares individuals for the complexities of leadership roles, ensuring they are equipped to manage teams effectively and drive organizational success.
