Here's how you make sure your halloween is full of treats. Don't wind up with a fine or worse. 🎃Assault can result in physical injury and costly charges. If you're going to celebrate, make sure you're responsible and keep your wits. 🎃Kidnapping happens, whether ill-intended or blissful ignorance, don't get caught with this kind of charge 🎃Trespassing is very common on Halloween. Groups of teens hoping to get some cheap thrills in the night pick an "abandoned house" or carelessly stumble upon someone's private property. This puts you in a predicament. 🎃Vandalism and pranks that go wrong top the list every Halloween. Avoid causing damage to personal property and you shouldn't get trapped with a scary charge. Controversial opinion coming!… I don’t like the scary, horror aspect to Halloween.. I don’t like seeing all the murder things in shops, cafes etc. I really think there is just too much of that horrible stuff in the world as it is. So instead, next week I’m going to be sharing some alternatives that you can do instead. I’ll be posting every day with a few ideas you can try at home. I’d love to know your thoughts, and any Halloween suggestions you have in the comments below. Whilst Halloween can be great fun for kids and many of us enjoy seeing people out ‘trick or treating’; for some, it can be a worry if they’re home alone and concerned about callers after dark. There are some helpful tips (thanks Age UK) on what we can all do to make sure Halloween is respectful for everyone. If you're concerned about staying safe: 👻 Keep the door chain on and check the window or spy hole before opening the door. 🦇 Take particular care if there's more than one person on your doorstep. 🕸 Only open the door if you feel safe to do so. If you're in any doubt or don't feel safe, don't – it's fine not to answer the door if you don't want to. 🕷 If you're really worried, invite a friend or relative around and spend the evening together. If you're out trick or treating: 🕸 Remember that some older people and other members of your community might not want to be disturbed. A good rule of thumb is to look for a pumpkin outside the house – that's a sign the house is happy to receive trick or treaters. 🦇 Be mindful of noise late at night. 👻 Don't persistently ring someone's doorbell, knock on their door or return to their house later. If they don't answer, it's best to move on. #HappyHalloween #RespectfulHalloween #PumpkinSeason #TrickorTreat #spookyseason

Happy Friday from the team at Raphael & Associates! Here is another Raphael Random Friday Fun Fact for you to enjoy. For the remainder of the month of October, we’re going to focus our Raphael Random Friday Fun Facts on everyone’s favorite spooky day- Halloween! Halloween can be traced back to around 4000 B.C. in Ireland. The holiday has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival of “Samhain” – the celebration of the end of harvest season. Back then, the Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead got a little blurry and the dead would come back to life and wreak havoc among the living. The Gaels would attempt to scare away the dead by wearing costumes and masks. Halloween is the second most commercial holiday in the US, with Christmas being the first. Americans spend about $6.9 billion on Halloween – with more than $2 billion spent on Halloween candy. How much candy does $2 billion buy? Roughly 600 million pounds – which is the equivalent of about 6 Titanic ships. On average, Americans consume 3.4 pounds of Halloween candy each. If the thought of Halloween scares you, you might suffer from Samhainophobia – the fear of Halloween. We hope that you enjoyed this week’s Raphael Random Friday Fun Fact. Have a great weekend! #raphaelandassociates #happyfriday #fridayfunfact #rrfff #happyhalloween #halloween #candy #october

Black Cats: More Than Just Halloween Superstitions October is Black Cat Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to show some extra love to these often misunderstood furballs. A friend of mine had a black cat that we playfully said looked like a vampire because his little fangs stuck out just so — but in reality, he was the most friendly, affectionate cat I’ve ever met! 😻 Unfortunately, many black cats don’t get that same love and appreciation. Because of outdated superstitions and the chaos that sometimes surrounds Halloween, they’re often left unadopted, or worse, in harm's way. It's heartbreaking that something as simple as fur color can lead to such bias. Black cats deserve homes and families just as much as any other kitty! They have so much love to give and, as I’ve experienced, they can be downright charming (fangs and all 😆). So, if you’re thinking about adopting a new feline friend, why not consider a black cat? You might just find yourself under the spell of their sweet, purrfect personality. 🖤✨ Have you ever heard a black cat myth or had one in your life that completely proved it wrong? Let’s break the stigma and spread some black cat love this month! #BlackCats #BlackCatAwarenessMonth #Halloween #Stigmas #BlackCatAdoptions #SoulfulWealthSystem #PetwellCreativeEnterprises
