SERIOUS TOPIC 🎺 The Importance of Moral Education in Early Childhood 🌱 I’ve noticed many nursery and primary schools shifting focus solely to academic subjects, often removing moral values from the curriculum. This raises a critical question: Are we nurturing well-rounded individuals or just focusing on academic excellence? Children today are becoming more detached from basic ethics—many are already stealing small items like stationery or snacks, and even showing disrespect to elders. These behaviours are concerning and need to be addressed early on.Moral education should be compulsory in primary schools, alongside academic subjects. It’s essential to instill values like honesty, respect, and empathy at a young age to shape responsible and compassionate individuals. Let’s focus on building both the mind and the heart. What are your thoughts on the role of moral education in shaping the next generation? #MoralEducation #EthicsInEducation #ChildDevelopment #ValuesMatter #EarlyLearning #EducationReform

Who is responsible for teaching a moral values to students? 🤔 I think both parents and teachers also. Absolutely both play essential roles in instilling moral values in students. Parents lay the foundation by teaching kindness, honesty, and respect at home, while teachers reinforce these values in a broader social setting, guiding students in their interactions and decisions. Together, they create a supportive framework that shapes a child's character, with parents offering personalized guidance and teachers providing real-world examples. This collaborative effort is crucial for developing well-rounded, morally conscious individuals who can contribute positively to society. The shared responsibility of parents and teachers builds a stronger, values-driven foundation for students' futures. In today's world, the responsibility of teaching moral values to students is often passed between parents and teachers, with each expecting the other to take the lead. This divide can leave students without clear guidance on ethics. A collaborative approach is essential for building a strong moral foundation in youth. During my SEP period, I observed that many students lack basic moral values. When discussing this with teachers, particularly class teachers, the response was often that teaching moral values is solely the responsibility of the parents. This perspective creates a gap in students' moral development, as both parents and teachers play crucial roles in shaping character. Education should not be limited to academics alone; it should also nurture ethical and moral growth, requiring a collaborative effort between home and school. #teachers #students #teacherparents_relation

👨🎓 Have you ever heard of Paolo Freire? We mentioned him last week but here is a little more insight. He was a Brazilian educator and philosopher who questioned the mainstream educational systems across the world and wrote about the "Pedagogy of the Oppressed". He described that students were commonly simply passive listeners of teachers in the classroom and frequently just had to memorise and store information. He believed this stripped students of the ability to be creative and think critically about reality, which meant they were not questioning the oppressive nature of the world. The alternative he proposed? A problem-posing education, where students are presented with questions and problems, for which they need to be innovative and think critically to solve. Students would be given autonomy and agency in their learning with the purpose of promoting independence. He believed this would help children be curious and think about reality more deeply - why it is how it is, and how they fit in to it. ❓What do you think mainstream education is like today? And what do you think it should be like? #problemposing #problemsolving #problemsolvingskills #mainstreameducation #alternativeeducation #paolofreire #pedagogy #environmentaleducation #environmentalimpact #transformation #transformativeeducation #transformativelearning #greeneducation

📚Reading is Knowledge : Teaching a person to read is a political act. One of the most discussed topics in education today is that of the so-called ‘knowledge curriculum’. Its most famous proponent is E D Hirsch, who has written extensively on the subject. Hirsch argues that depriving students – especially poorer students - of the ‘cultural capital’ that middle and upper class children have access to perpetuates inequality and injustice. Instead, he believes that the curriculum should reflect ‘powerful knowledge’ that enables students to gain the same access to higher education and working opportunities that those in better-off circumstances tend to have. We work with schools to eradicate adolescent illiteracy so that no student leaves school unable to read well, regardless of their background. If you would like to see these results for your most vulnerable students you can book a discovery call the link in the comments below. #literacy #reading #teaching #education

As educators we want to help children to understand the world around them, encouraging them to ask questions and use their imaginations. We want them to understand truth, goodness and beauty and also what it means to have good morals. In a society that doesn't value morals it's imperative to teach them to the children as they interact with the world around them so they can stand firm when faced with the challenges of right and wrong. The following article will hopefully help you to understand why we need moral literacy in our teaching.

Why isn't moral education a priority in schools? It's the foundation of a strong society, yet in the rush for academic excellence, we've overlooked the importance of instilling core values in our children. Consider this: Would you prefer a child who tops the class but lacks empathy, or one who might not score the highest but embodies kindness and integrity? Moral education is essential, not optional. We need to prioritize teaching: - Empathy - Honesty - Respect for others It's time to rethink our education system. When we nurture the heart, the mind will follow.

In order to recruit and retain teachers of color, school districts and policymakers must offer educators the autonomy in developing a cultural curriculum that exemplifies the identities of all students.

Schools need educators who believe in every child's potential. The more believers there are, the easier it is to normalise and embed the desired teaching practices. We need to praise and support these committed educators. We need tribes of believers.

🌟STUDENTS OF ALL AGE GROUPS deserve respect.🌟 Do you agree? When corrected respectfully, treated at par with even the most intelligent and most sincere student and dealt with the same compassion, .... even the most disinterested, most distracted and most undisciplined child reciprocates with respect and invigorated attention. 🌟 IGNORE THE MISTAKES, CONNIVE AT THEM. 🌟 🌟 LET GO OF THE MISTAKES. 🌟 🌟 TREAT THEM WITH AS MUCH RESPECT AS YOU WOULD HAVE GIVEN IF THE CHILD HAD NOT COMMITTED ANY MISTAKE. 🌟 #EMOTIONAL_INTELLIGENCE #Treat_every_child_with_respect #Teacherrules #Pedagogies_for_disinterested_learners #Classroom_Management p.s. - I speak what I do and I do what I speak. My picture of an old tweet is a testimony.
